Klar – sehr kurz und eher wie eine echte Google-Rezension: I had the Gabriel García Márquez – One Hundred Years of Solitude tasting menu, and it was absolutely fantastic – creative, beautifully presented and, most importantly, delicious. I liked it so much that I came back the very next day just to have some of the dishes again. Highly recommended!

One of the best restaurants of my life!!! The cuisine was incredibly original and inventive, presented artistically, with delicate flavors and attentive, friendly service. Everything was perfect for an unforgettable moment in Budapest.

We ordered the menu inspired by The Odyssey and every dish was delicious, aesthetically pleasing, interesting, and perfectly connected to the story of the book. The service was very nice and careful. Great experience!

KönyvBár offers one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in Budapest. From the moment the book-inspired Odyssey menu landed on the table, it felt like stepping into a curated story rather than simply going out for dinner. The concept is what makes the experience so special: each course is themed around Homer’s Odyssey, turning the meal into an elegant journey. Dishes like The Fall of Troy with the smoke and ashes and Poseidon’s Fury were especially memorable, and the whole menu felt thoughtful, creative, and immersive. What I loved most was how beautifully the restaurant combined fine dining with a literary atmosphere. The presentation, the concept, and the overall sense of occasion made the evening feel unique and elevated, while still warm and inviting. The book experience itself was fantastic, and the menu design added so much charm to the visit. It’s the kind of place that stays with you after the meal, not just because of the food, but because of the feeling of being part of a story.

Simply AMAZING! The atmosphere, concept, menu, quality, service - all incredible. We all chose this week’s book, Homer, The Odyssey - 5 course tasting menu. I am also vegan and this was no problem for the chef - this was some of the best vegan food imaginable. My wife and two teenage boys loved every course. And our awesome waiter suggested some superb Hungarian wine. He introduced each dish which followed the story, each plate seemingly more creative than the last. This was art and food combined. And it was my birthday - the little candle in the photo set off the most delicious vegan crème brûlée ever.

What a unique place! We were lucky enough to visit on the very first day of the special tasting menu inspired by Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and it made the whole experience feel even more special. Every course was beautifully presented, creative, and absolutely delicious. You can really see how much thought and passion goes into both the food and the storytelling behind the menu. The atmosphere was cozy, elegant, and perfect for a relaxed evening. A special shoutout to our waiter, who was an absolute friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming. His great service made an already wonderful evening even better. If you're in Budapest and looking for something different from a regular restaurant, KönyvBár & Restaurant is an experience you shouldn't miss. We would definitely come back!

Fantastic place!!! We tasted the five-course menu, which was impeccable in terms of taste and presentation. The staff is super nice, with the help of a short plot summary before the courses, we can enjoy this taste journey even without knowing the book. I heartily recommend it to everyone who wants an affordable fine dining experience.
