IHLIA LGBT+ Heritage is the Dutch national LGBTQ+ archive and one of the largest queer collections in Europe. It grew out of a University of Amsterdam documentation collection started in 1978 and has been housed in the Central Public Library (OBA) at Oosterdokskade since 2007. The holdings run to books, magazines, films, personal papers of activists, posters and photographs. Visitors can use the reading room and see the small rotating exhibitions; entry to the library is free. It sits a short walk east of Centraal Station on the Oosterdok island rather than in the Warmoesstraat area. Opening follows the library's schedule, so check ihlia.nl before going, especially if you want to request archive material.
