Bar Cru

Bar Cru is the cruising bar of Lisbon's gay quarter. It opened on Rua de São Marçal and in 2024 moved two streets away to a larger space at Calçada Engenheiro Miguel Pais 39, still in Príncipe Real and about five minutes on foot from the garden square and from Rato metro. Some older listings never recorded the move and wrongly show it as closed; it is open and in 2026 hosts the welcome dinner and the 'Playground' cruising parties of the Lisbon Meets Fetish weekend (25 to 27 September 2026). The layout is a bar at the front where you can sit with a drink and decide, and a play area at the back with a cruising zone, sling, private cabins, glory holes and a darkroom. The programme is built on themed nights that run almost every evening: Underwear Night, Naked Party, Sports, Dark CRUising and Fetish Night. On dress-code nights you check your clothes at the entrance. Entry is free or a small cover depending on the night, usually with a drink minimum on party nights; condoms are available at the bar. Hours as listed in 2025: 20:00 to 02:00 Monday to Thursday and Sunday, 20:00 to 03:00 Friday and Saturday. Check the website or the bar's Instagram for the week's programme because nights are added and changed around events. The crowd skews local and 35-plus, with visitors from the Príncipe Real hotels, and reviews describe it as welcoming to first-timers; some regulars note it has become darker and smokier since the move. Men only, 18+, ID checked at the door. Phones stay away in the play area and a no means no. Nearby: Trumps, Woof X and Bar 106 are within a few minutes' walk, Trombeta Bath sauna is down the hill in Bairro Alto, and Drako Club, the city's other cruising venue, is fifteen minutes east on foot.
