Here's the honest answer: south Tenerife has one gay club, one gay cruising bar and one gay sauna, and they are all within about a kilometre of each other around C.C. Verónicas in Playa de las Américas. That's the whole scene in 2026. It's enough for a fun weekend night, but it isn't Maspalomas, and most of the strip's other bars are ordinary British, Irish and Spanish holiday bars.
Legal in one line: same-sex marriage has been legal in Spain since 2005, Ley 4/2023 covers trans and LGTBI equality nationally, and the Canary Islands' Ley 2/2021 protects gender identity in the islands.
Where the scene is
Playa de las Américas is split between two municipalities by the Barranco del Rey. The eastern half, including C.C. Verónicas and Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, is in Arona. The western half (Troya, San Eugenio, Torviscas) is in Adeje. The gay venues sit on both sides of that line, but you'd never notice it on foot: from EXITO to Q&K or Sauna Stonewall is a 10-minute walk.
EXITO Gay Club
EXITO is in C.C. Verónicas 2 on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, next to Papagayo. It's the same business that opened as Butterfly Club in the Salytien centre, moved to Verónicas as Babylon Disco Pub after the Butterfly closed in 2017, and now trades as EXITO. Google and Travel Gay give the hours as Friday and Saturday only, 23:00 to 04:00. Travel Gay quotes entry at about €10 with a drink. Nights are DJ sets with drag and go-go acts, and listings mention a darkroom. It's the only gay dance club in south Tenerife, so plan your trip around the weekend if clubbing matters. Q&K Cruising Bar
Q&K is in Edificio Viña del Mar on Calle Guatemala, San Eugenio (Adeje side), under 1 km north of Verónicas. It's a men's cruising bar with a bar area, a darkroom, a maze and lockers. There's no entry fee; you buy a drink. Google lists it open Monday to Saturday from 21:00 to 02:00, closed on Sunday, and Tuesday is underwear night. Instagram: @qkgaybar.
Sauna Stonewall
Sauna Stonewall is in local 2 of C.C. Pueblo Canario on Avenida Eugenio Domínguez Alfonso, also on the Adeje side, about 800 m from Verónicas. Travel Gay and Spartacus list a Finnish sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, darkroom and cabins. Opening times differ between sources. Google and Travel Gay (January 2026) agree on Wednesday to Sunday from 15:00, closed Monday and Tuesday, but give different closing times. Entry has been quoted at about €13. The website no longer works, so phone +34 922 798 450 or check Facebook first. Google reviews are mixed.
Drag and the gay shop
MHT – Music Hall Tavern at Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina 7 runs English-language comedy drag dinner shows. Travel Gay and QList list it, but the audience is mostly mixed holiday groups, so treat it as a show rather than a gay bar, and book ahead.
The Gay/Men Shop Tenerife Sur at Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina 19 (local 34-B) is a small gay men's shop, open Monday to Saturday, 11:00–14:00 and 18:00–22:00 according to Google.
Closed or changed: gone but still Googled
- Butterfly Club (Salytien) closed after its dance floor collapsed in November 2017. It reopened as Babylon Disco Pub in Verónicas, which is now EXITO. There is no separate "Babylon" gay bar in Los Cristianos.
- Chaplin's, Punto Zero, Gemini's and the Cellar Bar in the Salytien centre have closed, and the centre is largely empty.
- Adonis Sauna (Salytien) closed years ago. Stonewall is the only gay sauna in the south.
- Agua de Coco in Los Cristianos is reported closed by Travel Gay.
- Playaflor Chill-Out Resort on Avenida Rafael Puig, once sold as a gay resort with a chill-out bar, is marked permanently closed on Google and its website is down.
- Joyce and The Night Owl show up on some gay lists. They're mainstream venues: a disco and a Northern Soul bar.
- The scene is busiest on Friday and Saturday nights, and busier in winter, which is high season in the Canaries.
- Everything is walkable from Verónicas. Taxis are easy to find on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina late at night.
- The islands are on Atlantic time, one hour behind mainland Spain.
- For a bigger scene, Maspalomas on Gran Canaria (Yumbo Centre) is a short flight or a ferry and drive away.
Some websites list a cluster of bars "at CC Verónicas" with names such as Lick, Tramps or Bear Sí. We found no trace of them in any other source; they look like a mix-up with the Yumbo Centre on Gran Canaria.
