I'm new to this scene. If I go to this bar, will people look at me strangely?

Door staff are aggressive weirdos. Someone asked me if I had any change as I was approaching. I said no. As I went to enter the bouncer asked, “What was that all about?”, I explained and he looked me up and down and shook his head and said I couldn’t go in! Just utterly bizarre.
