1970 年 11 月 27 日，剛成立不久的 Gay Liberation Front 約有 150 名成員手持火炬聚集於 Highbury Fields，抗議警方在該地以誘捕行動逮捕 Young Liberal 成員 Louis Eakes。此事普遍被視為英國首次爭取同志權利的示威活動。
為紀念 30 週年，OutRage! 於 2000 年在該公園靠近 Highbury Corner 的一端豎立了一塊三角形銅牌。除此之外，這是一座普通的 Islington 公園，免費且對所有人開放，僅以此銅牌作為標誌。Highbury & Islington station 步行幾分鐘即可抵達。
