Gay Saunas in London: The Honest 2026 Guide

The honest summary: London has seven gay men's saunas, more than most European capitals now, and all seven were trading when we checked in October 2026. Two are open 24 hours (Pleasuredrome and Sweatbox), the rest keep day-and-evening hours. None of them are luxury spas: reviews everywhere are mixed on upkeep, and the Google ratings sit around 3. Choose by location, opening hours and crowd.

Legal in one line: gay saunas are legal, licensed businesses in England; you must be 18 or over (21 at E15 Club), and you should bring photo ID.

The seven saunas

Pleasuredrome, Waterloo

The biggest, in railway arches on Cornwall Road beside Waterloo station. Open 24 hours, every day of the year. Spa pool, several steam rooms and saunas, a maze, a 24-hour bar and paid private rooms and pods. Its own site lists entry at £28, or £23 if you're under 30, with a maximum stay of 18 hours. Busiest late on Friday and Saturday nights.

Sweatbox, Soho

On Ramillies Street, a few minutes from Oxford Circus and the Old Compton Street bars. Three floors with a gym, dry sauna, steam room, a large jacuzzi, a steam maze, darkroom and cabins. Open 24 hours. £25, or £17 for 25 and under; card payment only. It fills up after the Soho bars close.

Covent Garden Health Spa, Covent Garden

On Endell Street, one of the longest-running in central London, with an older-leaning crowd. Steam, sauna, jacuzzi, bar and massage. Opens daily at midday and closes at 23:30 on weekdays, 02:00 on Saturday and 22:30 on Sunday. £24 standard, with cheaper rates before 14:00, after 20:00 and for under-30s.

Sailors, Limehouse

On Commercial Road in east London, a few doors from BJ's White Swan. Sauna, steam room, spa pool, cabins and a roof garden. Opens at midday or 13:00 and closes at midnight, with last entry at 21:00. Around £24.

The Locker Room, Kennington

A small sauna for gay and bi men on Cleaver Street, close to the Vauxhall clubs. Steam room, a 20-man dry sauna and cabins, with lockers and towels included. Daily 11:00-23:00. £17 on weekday mornings and £22 after that, with cheaper evening and under-25 deals.

Saunabar Portsea, Marble Arch

A small sauna at 2 Portsea Place known mainly for massage, which starts at about £65 including entry. Dry sauna, steam, cabins and a bar. Daily 11:30-22:30; £24, or £20 under 30.

E15 Club, Stratford

A neighbourhood sauna on Leytonstone Road with dry and infra-red saunas, cruising rooms and a video lounge. Its website says the steam room is out of action. Daytime only: 12:00-19:00, closed Monday and Thursday. 21+, £20 (£15 on Wednesday).

Closed or changed: gone but still Googled

• Chariots (Shoreditch, Vauxhall, Streatham and Limehouse branches): the chain closed site by site between 2016 and 2021. Sailors now trades on the old Limehouse site on Commercial Road.
• The Hoist (Vauxhall fetish club): closed years ago, not a sauna.

Practical tips

• Prices on this page come from the saunas' own sites in October 2026 and change often. Under-25 and under-30 discounts are common, so bring ID.
• Sweatbox is card-only; carry a card everywhere.
• Lock your phone and wallet away and keep the key on your wrist.
• Condoms and lube are usually provided. PrEP is free on the NHS, and 56 Dean Street in Soho does free sexual-health testing.
• If you prefer a bar to a sauna, the men-only cruise bars are Vault 139 and The Underground.
