DoubleTree by Hilton Milton Keynes

Room very spacious and clean, could do with a softer bed, but suppose that's personal choice. Amazing view of the football ground from bedroom. Breakfast was great value for money. Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

I wanted to provide some feedback following my recent stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Milton Keynes. Unfortunately, the stay did not reflect the level of service I would normally expect from a Hilton hotel. At check-in, there was a lengthy queue and although signage advertised an Express Check-In desk for Gold and Diamond members, it was not staffed. When I approached, I was abruptly told it was closed. If the service is unavailable, perhaps the signage should be removed or covered. I was then assisted by another reception team member who was excellent, quickly adding my Hilton Honors number, welcoming me appropriately and providing great service. The room itself was spacious with a lovely stadium view. However, as a solo female traveller, I did feel slightly uneasy about how accessible the room appeared from the stadium side. I also found a gift box in the room which I believe had been mistakenly left behind by housekeeping. Dinner was disappointing. The restaurant seemed heavily focused on a football event, leaving hotel guests feeling like an afterthought. Service was difficult to get, there was a nearby table playing videos loudly, and no staff intervened. While the food itself was good, the overall experience was poor. The most frustrating part of the stay was being repeatedly disturbed late in the evening regarding a £5 overspend on my bill-back allowance. Multiple phone calls, being placed on hold and eventually having someone come to my room to process payment could all have been avoided had the matter been dealt with during dinner service.Breakfast was much more pleasant and check-out was quick and easy. I also noticed that the Hilton Honors desks at reception were never staffed during my stay, despite busy check-in and check-out periods. Overall, there were some positives, particularly the helpful reception team member and the quality of the room, but the service experience fell well below the standards I associate with Hilton. It was ultimately a disappointing stay. As a side note, I noticed during a recent stay in Bristol that the hotel had switched to Zero% toiletries, which is a great environmental initiative. I wondered whether Milton Keynes has plans to introduce the same. Lastly all fire doors where left open which defeats the purpose of a fire door.

You need to walk for 10 minutes to reach your room. We are here in mid-October. Java was hot during the day, but now it's around 11 PM and the room is freezing. The automatic climate control system isn't working. I tried it a few times in both solar and automatic modes, but it didn't work. I managed to find the reception number from the room phone and called them. Unfortunately, there was no result.
