Playa Ramirez y Playa de los Ingleses

Playa Ramírez and the adjoining Playa de los Ingleses, on the Rambla opposite Parque Rodó, are Montevideo's traditional gay-frequented beach. It is mainly a daytime social scene on the sand in summer, with some cruising, rather than an intense cruising ground. The crowd thins out after sunset, and it pairs well with an evening walk along the Rambla. The beach is public and busy with families as well, so keep things discreet. Do not leave bags unattended, and avoid the darker park edges late at night. Summer weekends from December to February are the busiest time.
