It is very nice experience, just go and try it, you will love the place. Nice food with the family . TX JS
I went there for a festival with my family and around 15:00 we went for a lunch. The food surprisingly is really good and tasty. We had an hamburger and the humus dish. The service was a bit slow since it was very busy on Sunday. The ambiance is very good considering it is in the middle of a nice park. I highly recommend to try it once.
I went here for a friends birthday. Never again the worst service and food ever I never write reviews but this time I had to to. Stay away
We went to a wedding ceremony performed here on October 8th. I hadn't been here in about 50 years. The ceremony was outside on a cold rainy day but you forgot all about that thanks to Simon the official who performed the ceremony. The reception was held inside in a reserved section where the staff really outdid themselves especially Ian. Many thanks to this gentleman who could inform adults on the past history of this grand old park and then turn his attention to the kids by giving them balloons to keep them amused. This restaurant just got itself on my bucket list for next summer.
Nice work of art with food prep. High class and good quality. Great location right in the good area of lively parc Lafontaine. Outdoor area is the one we always go for. Professional staff.
No English language menu here. So I was surprised when my plat comprised only duck with stewed cranberries and an excellent salad. I think I misinterpreted the French for cranberries as potatoes. If you want a square meal, in addition to your plat, you are advised to order an entree (appetizer) or side dish or both. Dining al fresco was wonderful. Service was both better than expected and indifferent. As another reviewer noted, the waitstaff seemed rushed.
I reserved a part of one of the outdoor wings of this restaurant for a birthday celebration and it was delightful. Great to be outside in summer, but with a roof overhead in case of a little rain. Low-stress organisation-wise. Unlike most outdoor patios, here there are no cars within sight or hearing and the patio overlooks a little lake and all the greenery of beautiful Parc La Fontaine. The staff were very competent, professional and "sympathique." Unobtrusive but friendly, a hard line to draw in restaurant service but well done for our evening. Food was excellent and the not-too-large portions and not-too-large price tag also suited my group. We had access to the à la carte menu; if your group is larger than 14 people you may want the group menu, which I can't comment on. The location of this restaurant can't be beat in Montreal. And the other aspects of restaurant eating are also above average.
On a cold Sunday morning we trudge our way from the Old Port to La Fontaine Park in hopes of skating. We take the Metro to the Sherbrook stop and then take to the streets. A biting wind stings our faces as we trek our way to the Park. Made a few minutes longer by my instance that the park was in a different direction, we eventually make it there. We are all cold and need to warm up. Here we find the Espace La Fontaine, door open and inviting. We quickly duck inside. If you are expecting your typical park cafeteria, you will be pleasantly surprised. Clean, bright and open, this restaurant has a charm all its own. We quickly bellied up to the coffee bar and open drinks and a bit of food. The café au lait is fantastic, the hot chocolate is memorable and the pastries are quite delicious. They have a larger menu that even includes a full brunch menu on Sundays. The plates of crepes looked especially inviting. The staff is friendly and very good with children. Our server was very nice to our younger daughter, spending extra time talking to her and letting her practice her latest French vocabulary with her. This was a real oasis on a bitter cold Montreal day. We stayed here for a good amount of time, relaxing, warming and just enjoying the atmosphere. I am sure during the summer or times when there is more snow, the views out the large glass bay windows of the park are inspiring. However, for today we settle for bright views, warm beverages and a defrosting of the toes and fingers. Sure, the skating was not open yet but we were hardly disappointed. We had a fun adventure and found our way to a park and restaurant that we will surely return to when the skating is better and maybe even when the weather is warmer. La Fontaine Park seems quite nice, perhaps someday armed with a picnic basket and blanket. For this trip, we discovered a great restaurant that created its own memories to remember, a great place to relax and enjoy the savory offerings on a cold and windy Sunday morning.
Pleasant brunch menu at this restaurant located in the middle of Park LaFontaine. Brunch items and light sandwiches with beer and wine available. Great to sit and watch the city relaxing in the park. We had the egg Benedict with smoked salmon and a smoked salmon with caper open faced sandwich. Both were accompanied with a fresh fruit salad. Good wait staff.
If you find yourself in the neighbourhood, a pleasant lunch or coffee near the pond. On a nice day you can sit on the terrasse with a park view. Food is OK, my wife's salmon was not overcooked, my salad was nothing special. The iced tea was house-made. The server was overworked but cheery.
Beautiful park
I’ve been to this park both summer and winter and here is what I think: In the summer, it’s the perfect spot for a walk or a picnic while soaking in the beautiful surroundings. The open spaces and peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to relax and unwind. In the winter, the lake transforms into a stunning ice-skating rink that stretches along the landscape. While I had a great time skating, I did notice that the rink’s condition wasn’t the best. There were branches and small holes in some areas, which made it a bit challenging to skate smoothly. I’m not sure if this was just an issue on the day I visited or if it’s a common thing, but it’s something to keep in mind. Despite that, I definitely plan to return! There’s also an additional rink near the lake that looked very cool and seemed to offer a smoother surface. One thing I really appreciated is the building nearby that has a restaurant, equipment rental, and free lockers to store your belongings. Just make sure to bring your own lock if you want to use the lockers. Overall, it’s a fantastic park in every season, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
Perfect place for ice skating in the winter or a picnic during the summer.
Oh, it's a great spot for ice skating on a small lake. There's plenty of space even on a day off. It was fantastic, I recommend it to anyone who loves skating and is tired of skating in circles.
Great play areas for the kids
Place packed a little bit :), but still an amazing park to meet up with friends in the city. There are beach volleyball fields, what's a rare thing in Montreal.
Magnificent park with a bar open on weekends with live music
An exceptional park and a magical ice rink on the lake.
La Fontaine Park, located in the heart of Montreal's Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood, is a true haven of tranquility spanning nearly 40 hectares of greenery. This iconic spot invites relaxation and leisurely strolls, offering a space where nature and city life intertwine harmoniously. Two large, tranquil ponds attract a diverse array of wildlife: majestic ducks, curious geese, and other birds.
