Ever Restaurant

Having been to other Michelin starred restaurants, we can't give 5 stars. The wine pairing was excellent. Of the many small plates, the Thai soup was the best, followed by the taste of the mushrooms. But we expected more. The service was mostly impeccable, but due to the seating and the music, the explanation of the dishes and the wines was not always easy to understand. The lighting was shining right in the face of one of the three of us.

A spontaneous dinner turned memorable evening. Our group of 4 was lucky to stumble on a same-day reservation while looking for a unique dinner spot in Chicago. We arrived slighlty early and were escorted to After, their bar next door, where we had a round of drinks first. Dinner itself was a wonderful experience. Each dish had its own creative twist, was plated beautifully, unique, and flavorful while remaining well balanced. The wine pairing was very much a worthwhile addition. Where Ever truly stood out was service. I'm not sure how else to describe it other than feeling like royalty. We lost count of how many members of the team we had the pleasure of interacting with throughout the night. Between questions, laughter, and concerns, everyone was amazing and attentive. Unfortunately, mid-way through our dinner, one person in our party fell ill (likely due to a meal earlier in the day). We contemplated calling it early, but were pleasantly surprised when the kitchen sent out ginger tea and a few other tidbits to help with his upset stomach. All while offering to comp his meal/wine. This gesture stuck with us. In the end, he chose to continue with the meal (to enjoy the presentation alone), but forego the wine. The meal ended up lasting long due to this, but we never felt rushed despite being the last table for the night. Overall, would I recommend it? Absolutely. Of the many dinners we've had, this one remains one of the most memorable.

Beyond just the awesome experience the staff were generous with putting up with my many questions and happily educating me on the on the details that go into making this such a monumental moment for each guest. Ever Restaurant was an amazing overall experience. The food exceeded my expectations, with beautifully presented dishes and incredible flavors throughout the meal. The salmon and lamb were especially impressive and really stood out. The service and pacing were also excellent, making the whole dining experience feel smooth and memorable!

Surprisingly disappointing. Had much higher expectations for this two star. While each dish was stunning, nearly all of them were unable to “wow” me. Not a single savory dish made me feel like I needed to tell someone about how great it was. They were all fairly forgettable, which is not what I expected for a two star. Normally I am smiling or giggling like a little kid when a dish blows me away - very common at a two or three star. That said, the caviar dessert dish with the moscato was absolutely wonderful. That dish did “wow” and the pairing was brilliant. This was the only dish that impressed me taste wise. They served a “Hokkaido milk bread” which was very mid. I asked if they imported Hokkaido milk because I’ve always wanted to find a way to do that since I love it. He said “yes we use regular milk” all nervously. Find it odd to call it Hokkaido milk bread when you aren’t using Hokkaido milk. That’s the whole point. Call it Hokkaido milk break style if you must. Service was as expected, nothing notable. I appreciated the chance to enter the kitchen and see the staff in action. The decor and vibes are lovely. Overall, I left disappointed especially for the high price. There was minimal protein and I was honestly left still a little hungry. I’ve been to countless Michelin start tasting menus. This one didn’t deliver a two star course in my opinion but was still a good dining experience overall.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable 26th Anniversary Celebration at Ever We celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary at Ever, and it couldn't have been a better choice! From the moment we walked in until we left, everything was exceptional. Every course was beautifully presented, but more importantly, every dish tasted incredible. The wine pairing introduced us to bottles from around the world that we never would have ordered ourselves, and each one complemented the food perfectly. One of our favorite touches was the personalized "Happy 26th Anniversary" menu waiting for us. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made an already special evening even more memorable. The kitchen tour was such a fun bonus and gave us a whole new appreciation for everything that goes into creating a delicious experience like this. The service was truly outstanding. Everyone was warm, professional, and genuinely seemed to care that we had a great experience. Despite the number of courses, the evening never felt rushed or drawn out, and it ended with one final surprise that was the perfect finishing touch. (IYKYK) We've been fortunate to eat at some incredible restaurants over the years. One of the things we love most about Chicago is its amazing food scene, and Ever is one of the finest dining experiences the city has to offer. It was the perfect way to celebrate 26 years together, and we WILL be back, soon!
