Wonderful food, very inventive ways of showcasing the local offerings. Portions are just enough that with someone else you can order a couple dishes to try out. Their was a higher use of sour flavors that were well complimented by other ingredients that I appreciated. The service staff was very helpful in letting us know what to order! The atmosphere wasn't as quiet as fine dining, with the bar right in the same area it could get loud with the bar mixing, but still an enjoyable experience for a night out.

I was excited for this restaurant. I have to say the food was one of the best in Madison. But the service was horrible. We sat where the direct sun light was by the bar with the high top chairs. I made a reservation at least a month ago. I wasn’t expecting to sit in direct sun light. All the server couldn’t even open their eyes when they were taking orders and serving food. I asked for a different table and she said she had to ask their other customers if they were okay to sit where the direct sunlight was. Why did they even sit us there from the beginning. Then she did gave us seats in the dining room but she said they need the table by a certain time, which was very bad as a restaurant where they should be service oriented. All throughout the dinner we felt so bad. I was celebrating my birthday dinner with my girls. This was such a bad experience.

Me and my partner went there for a nice dinner and they delivered. The food was immaculate and coursed out appropriately My recommendation would be to split a couple appetizers, share a pasta and a main dish so u can try everything they have to offer. Regan our sever was super knowledgeable and did a great job explaining every dish we chose. Would definitely recommend

We had the most lovely experience at Fairchild on 6/12/26. Our server, Reagan, was a dream! She was so warm, attentive, and helpful. Our meal was perfect. Zero notes. Beautiful setting. Cannot wait to go back!

The service was great, but for a restaurant founded by James Beard award winning chefs, I expected a lot more from the food. The appetizers were creative and delicious, but the entrees weren't that good and way overpriced.

Loved it. Every single dish was so good and unique, from my cocktail to our food. We will definitely be back, hopefully soon. We went to celebrate a birthday, and we even received a free glass of champagne. The experience was fantastic, and our server was very friendly and sweet.

This was one of the best meals i have had in madison. Staff was exceptional, I loved the food. Plating was good, I would prefer more veg to startch but both were in season. As someone who does it for a living, no notes on the experience offered.

Service was fantastic - warm, welcoming, and attentive. Atmosphere was great. Food was very good, but Fairchild has been talked up so much that I was expecting amazing. It wasn't amazing. I had some pesto potatoes that were just so oily. I hardly ate them. The hash browns I got were very delicious and the steak was fine. It was fine. Probably even good. But it seemed like a steak I could get anywhere. There was nothing wrong with it. But there wasn't anything memorable about it either. I had some sort of chocolate pudding like dessert (can't remember what it was actually called) and again, it was fine. I liked it, I ate it. It tasted good. But was I like, wow, best pudding ever? No. I wasn't super impressed with their dessert selection. The drink I had WAS impressive though. Based on the description, it shouldn't have worked but it did. It was super delicious. I recommend trying the cocktails. Their food was good. Maybe even very good. At any other restaurant, I probably would have been more satisfied. But at Fairchild, based on its reputation, I was underwhelmed.

Spent $200 plus tip and left the restaurant hungry. Service is top notch, food is good but portions are extremely small and you have to sit super close to people eating at next table. Paying $15 for 7-8 tiny pieces of squash with a dot of dried tomatoes is a little ridiculous.
