Ogunquit Beach
Visitors frequently praise Ogunquit Beach for its beauty, cleanliness, and plentiful sand, often describing it as magical. A common point of concern is the tide, which can significantly reduce the available beach space at high tide, though it also recedes quickly. Parking is generally available but can be inconvenient due to an app requirement.

Great people watching and clean beach
Idelic Maine beach, watch for tide information before you go as high tide comes up so high that there's not much beach left, good news is the tide goes out as fast as it comes in, plentiful parking albeit A.P.I.T.A. parking app, shops with snacks, ice cream etc close by, clean restrooms and generally friendly and happy beach goers.
Very good beach, especially for Maine. Plenty of sand.
Places like this in Nigeria should be posted on maps
Great walking beach
Super duper
No matter how many times I come here, it remains magical. The way the light hits the water and the coast wraps around the end feels like something out of a movie. There’s plenty of parking at the lot right along the shoreline and a bathroom. This year I went to their Christmas by the Sea event, with a huge community bonfire on the beach and fireworks. Highly recommend. It’s also a great place to do a polar bear plunge run into the water to kick off the new year.
Great place
Amazing beach! One of the best in the state!!
Beautiful views and very clean.
Wonderful time with my family. I love the cold, clear Atlantic. We missed Maine almost right away. One of the most beautiful stares I've ever seen.
Awesome beach.
Enchanting place
Fun place to visit, really nice beach, decent food options.
There were lots of beach walkers and a few surfers when I stopped by for a few minutes in the early morning during the second week of November. On my way home later in the day, the beach and the village were packed with tourists. Still. But it was a weekend and the weather was mild for that time of year, almost in the 70s.
Ogunquit Beach and Bay is absolutely worth the visit. We walked along the boardwalk and were amazed by the dramatic tide changes. The small lighthouse adds a charming touch to the beautiful coastal scenery. During our visit, a nor’easter came through, and the huge waves crashing onto the rocks were incredible to watch. A truly memorable and scenic spot to experience Maine’s rugged coastline. Parking in the neighborhoods is not permitted. However, they do have a large parking area closer to the downtown.
We’re not a huge “spend all day at the beach” family but we love it here. We go a a couple of times when we’re in town and the kids adore it. They can play in tide pools, play football, catch, build sand castles, and jump the crashing waves. There are showers by the parking lot entrance so you don’t have to take so much sand with you. This year, parking was $8/hr or a flat fee for the whole day.
We visited on a sunny day in August. The weather was great, about 82 for the high. The water was too cold for me to swim in, but others didn't seem to mind. We set up further down the beach at the "Gay" area past the first dune walkway and it wasn't crowded and still felt pretty family friendly as long as you're ok with a few guys in speedos. If you stay near the beach entrance and gift shop, it was enormously crowded even at low tide. You can have more space if you walk an extra 1/4 mile down. At high tide the beach is a LOT smaller than low tide, so I would recommend figuring our the tide chart and visiting when the tide is down or going out!
Amazing beach, has everything! Endless sand, a river(depending on tide) which is a warmer swimming spot. Ocean water was pretty chilly for us. Walkable to shopping and eats, very nice beach bathrooms and showers. Awesome views! This is an ideal beach at a super cool location!!
Beautiful beach but parking can be a nightmare, lot gets full, than few spots with 30 minute limit. 8.00 per hour and 30.00 daily rate
Walked the beach in the morning during low tide. Amazing views very large beach. Other people around but still felt peaceful. Found some nice seashells
RVs are not welcome anywhere, even a small 20-footer like mine. I wanted to park near the beach but for 30 min or 4 h00, I was charged US$50 pcq I was a RV. I tried to explain that I was shorter than the big pickup that was parked but nothing to do and on the streets there are posters everywhere so bye bye Ogunquit unless they change their policy. Too bad because restaurants and shops appreciated my money.
The parking rates have become too onerous for a day at the beach. Fees are now paid on line, no person at the booth. Rainy days are not free. The $8 per hour, $45 per day have soured me on going there. Parking anywhere in Ogunquit has become a pricey affair. I know that it is easier to tax the people who can't vote but I think that they have gone too far and you should try Wells
I stopped by the beach while traveling on Route One. It was a late January day and very cold and windy (and there very few tourists that time of year because not much is open). There were a few residents who were brave enough to walk around in that wind. It was a beautiful crisp day, though, and I got a few good photos of the beach, the signage, the river, and the awning-free public seating pavilion.
