Anvil is a long-standing gay bar on East Thomas Road in central Phoenix, near a cluster of other LGBTQ+ bars along the Thomas and 7th Street corridor. It is a casual neighbourhood bar with a men-leaning crowd, pool, cheap drinks and a jukebox-and-TV feel rather than a dance club. Listed hours are 13:00 to 02:00 every day, so it works for an afternoon drink or a late stop. Evenings and weekends are busiest. Phoenix is spread out, so plan on a car or ride-hail between bars.

Karaoke on Thursdays. Leather competitions and other activities and events. A hole in the wall, gay bar in the way they should be. Old school gay art (pictures of ‘butch’ men) on the walls and no frills atmosphere.
