Charlie's Phoenix, at 727 W Camelback Road just north of the Melrose District, has been a gay country-western club since 1984; there are sister bars in Denver and Chicago. The dance floor is the draw, with line dancing and two-step, and its own site lists drag shows Monday to Saturday and karaoke on Sundays. There's a large patio. It opens at 2pm Monday to Friday and noon at weekends, and stays open until 4am on Friday and Saturday nights, which makes it the late option in Phoenix. Google rates it 4.0 from about 960 reviews.

I loved Charley’s and used to go for Saturday drag and support their shows. But the last time i went i was assaulted by one of the drag queens. They shoved my head so hard i nearly fell over and I had no idea why they did what they did. I wasn’t in their way as there were so many others in the area and even if i was it shouldn’t prompt that level of violence. At the end of the day, I’m still a woman who got assaulted by a man. The bar is still a good time but i will not be attending the drag shows anymore
