This place has good music and mostly plays Hip-Hop/R&B and Top 40 Pop songs. Unfortunately, it's a small venue so it can get crowded relatively quickly. It's not hard to get to the bathrooms though, which makes it a convenient quick stop in between bars. Drink prices are a bit on the high side.
First the bad (reason for the low rating): Labor Day Mon night I ordered a corona and a cocktail for the host, a friend of mine. Total before tip: $27.56. For a canned corona and a mixed drink?! Absurd pricing. Bars, especially gay bars, wonder why they're dying. It's because it's cheaper to stay home and avoid their price gouging. The good and neutral: Beaches has friendly patrons and sometimes friendly bartenders. The tropical 🍹 drinks are pretty good. Tends to draw a Zoomer crowd, lots of recently-turned-21s here. The food here is surprisingly good, especially the paella. Beaches is also busy most nights of the week, unlike most WeHo bars that are a ghost town on weekdays.
I was disappointed with my experience here. The club was nearly empty when we visited, which should have been the first sign. We ordered three drinks that came to about $55. I understand drinks in West Hollywood aren’t cheap, but many nearby venues offer better value. For what we paid, the drinks were mediocre and definitely not as strong as expected. What stood out even more was the atmosphere created by the staff. Instead of making the venue feel welcoming, several employees were hanging around the entrance with a microphone, loudly trying to get people to come inside. Unfortunately, it came across as unprofessional and actually made the place feel less inviting rather than more appealing. I wanted to like this place, but between the expensive, underwhelming drinks and the lackluster atmosphere, I don’t see myself returning.
Best thing on sunset especially TUESDAYS🌴🌴🌴🙂↕️🤪
Went here with 5 friends to celebrate a 21st birthday. All 4 friends with California IDs got in without issue. I was denied entry despite having a completely valid, genuine Oregon driver's license, over an ID check that made no sense. The first bouncer looked at my ID and said he couldn't determine if it was valid, so he passed me to a second bouncer. That bouncer checked it under a blacklight and refused me entry, claiming there were "two things" that didn't check out, but couldn't say what those two things actually were when I asked. He seemed nervous and unsure of himself the whole time, like he didn't really know what he was looking for. My ID is a legitimate, current Oregon vertical license with the standard reflective and translucent security features. It's real, and I'm 21. Meanwhile, other IDs in my group got barely a glance, which says a lot about how thorough (or not) this "check" actually was. While I was standing there being denied, a shirtless dancer/performer from the club got up on the outside bar and started arguing with me about why I wasn't being let in. That's not his job, and it was rude and completely unprofessional, not the kind of customer service you'd expect from staff representing the venue. What made it worse: I work across the street and have for over a year. I'm well known in the area, and I've even had this club's own manager stop by my workplace to talk about upcoming events. None of that mattered. I was polite and even complimented the first bouncer on his professionalism, but got brushed off with no real explanation while my friends went in ahead of me. Between the ID confusion, the lack of any real explanation, and staff who seemed inexperienced across the board, this whole interaction felt unprofessional from start to finish. If you're coming from out of state, be ready for inconsistent, arbitrary ID checks, and don't expect the staff to explain themselves if they get it wrong.
Beaches WeHo wasn't exactly what I expected. I wish there had been more people, but overall the party was still fun and the place itself is really cool. I'll definitely come back. Oh my God, that tequila was the best I've ever had. If someone had told me it could go down that smoothly, I would've been pouring it into myself a long time ago... probably together with Benny. 🍹😂
good place just could get pretty crowded at times
