The Colombian Hotel, on Darlinghurst’s Oxford Street, is an easygoing bar that’s open every day and night.
It’s in an old building, but the space feels open and airy, with a pub-style bar that mixes old-school charm with modern hospitality. The bartenders here are good, especially with cocktails, which makes it a solid spot for a drink in one of Sydney’s big LGBTQ+ neighborhoods.
The crowd changes through the week. Early in the evening, it’s a bit more mixed, but as the night gets later, you’ll see more of a younger set. So, depending on when you go, you can get a different feel. They’re open daily, which means you can drop in for an early drink or make it part of a bigger night out.
Being right on Oxford Street means you’re in the middle of it all. This street is a big deal for LGBTQ+ visitors to Sydney, and The Colombian puts you right there. You’ll find other bars and clubs nearby, so it’s easy to move around or just hang out in Darlinghurst’s famously welcoming scene.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Colombian Hotel is hands down one of the best pubs in Sydney. As a straight tradie, I wasn’t sure what to expect the first time I walked in, but it didn’t take long to realise this place is for everyone. A massive shout out to Ella, who does an incredible job. Her professionalism, friendliness and genuine care for both staff and patrons is obvious the moment you walk through the door. She has helped create an atmosphere that is welcoming, inclusive and full of good energy. You can tell she takes a lot of pride in the venue and it shows in every aspect of the pub. The staff are brilliant, the service is always spot on, the drinks are great, and there’s a real sense of community that makes people want to come back. Whether you’re there for a quiet beer after work, a catch-up with mates, or a big night out, everyone is made to feel welcome. In a world where a lot of pubs can feel the same, the Colombian Hotel stands out because of the people, and Ella is a huge part of that. She’s a credit to the venue and the hospitality industry. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back. 🍻🏳️🌈
So we are having a really good time @ 3 am when suddenly for no reason whatsoever,G ... manager kicked us out for been straight, now if anyone does this to any G.. person in other places that could of being harassment and discrimination, and for sure all over the news 🙄 😒, very disappointed with this place.
I didn’t go for food just for drinks very confused on what was happening but the vibe was flipping awesome haha 😜
