Taipei Charming City Hotel

Nice environment :)

My second stay was on June 23rd. Overall, the quality was excellent, I really liked it. They had a generous breakfast, a snack bar, and drinks. My colleagues always stay here when they're on business trips, and they recommended it to our department. But this time, I kept smelling a foul odor while lying in bed… I later discovered it was from the pillow. The odor was an incredibly strong, sweaty smell… It was really disgusting. You could smell it even without getting close. It was horrible, and I wanted to warn others… This is the first time I've encountered something like this. I hope they change the pillowcases? But the pillow felt completely ruined. It was truly awful 😧 I put it far away and even wrote a note reminding them not to use it again. Although, it's still highly recommended because the quality and price are very reasonable. >< Thank you for your hard work.

Most room on second floor smells like mold and fungus. I was ready for gone the advance payment and moved to somewhere else, but I was dumb enough to stay the whole time. Here’s the positive: Front staff was friendly and helpful Location was very good This hotel needs major improvement on the facility or else will be great I spent five nights

A fantastic stay! The hotel itself doesn't feel dated at all. It's conveniently located, within walking distance of the MRT station and the lively Linjiang Street and Tonghua Street night markets. If you don't have breakfast at the hotel, there are McDonald's and traditional breakfast shops nearby, which is a great option. The staff were friendly and professional. The sofa lounge area on the first floor had snacks and drinks to satisfy your cravings. It was a rare find to have a dehumidifier in the room, a thoughtful touch considering the humid and rainy weather in northern Taiwan. The toiletries were from my favorite brand, Cha Zi Tang. The tap water flow was strong and heated up quickly without any sudden temperature fluctuations. The room's air conditioning was also easy to set and cooled down quickly, unlike other hotels in Taipei where I was freezing at night. Overall, it was an excellent stay, and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm traveling in the area.

I can't be the only one who saw this, so I'm giving it four stars. Highly not recommended! This stay was terrible. Please consider the following points: * Extremely poor facilities: The room was old and dusty. Most shockingly, the air conditioning was broken in the summer, and there were even mosquitoes in the room. * Negative crisis management: After complaining about the broken air conditioning, the hotel only provided one fan, which guests had to carry downstairs themselves. No staff were willing to come upstairs to assist or check the air conditioning. When I complained again at checkout the next day, the staff only gave a perfunctory "sorry," showing an extremely passive attitude. * Lack of professionalism among staff: The front desk staff continued to talk on the phone at a very loud volume while guests were resting in the lobby, completely disregarding the guests' feelings. With this level of service and facilities, I will absolutely not return. I'm giving four stars purely to ensure this review gets more views.

This hotel has a lot of potential and is in a great location. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is friendly. However, the biggest issue was that both the rooms and hallways smelled moldy and dusty. The walls and cabinets in the room were dirty, with visible cracks and signs of poor maintenance throughout. With better upkeep and attention to cleanliness, this hotel could be a much better experience.

AGODA mistakenly forgot our reservation at the Taipei Xiangcheng Hotel. Fortunately, we were fortunate to have the help of Mr. Hong and a kind lady at the front desk, who, through continuous communication with AGODA customer service, ensured our smooth stay for three nights. We request that the Taipei Xiangcheng Hotel Company reward Mr. Hong and the kind lady. Thank you!!

The counter service was patient and attentive, the environment was comfortable, cocktails were available for purchase, and there was a generous selection of snacks and drinks. 👍

I wish I can give 8 stars to the service I got from this hotel! I was asking the hotel staffs where to find the Taiwanese breakfast beehoon and the pantry lady overheard and said she’ll cook for me. I had it as my bday breakfast the next day! She also gave me a packed sandwich. Later, the staffs came and gave me a plate of snacks and beers to my room! So sweet! Little did they know that this man right here is broken hearted and running away from everyone, in a country far from his own; and they made him feel so loved and cherished. I lost my wife and her family 5 months ago and I have been battling grief since. Little do they know, these little act of kindness spurs people on to continue living their lives and reminding them that life is still wonderful to live in.

We came as a family from India, stayed for one week. The rooms are spacious, clean! Morning breakfast is very filling. Prices are affordable. Very accessible area. The best thing is the staff. superb, good hearted people. Having an infant with us, charming city hotel, was the best choice! Do recommend for stay !
