عن هذا المكان La Tanière

La Tanière is a mid-priced restaurant on Quai Richelieu, the riverside stretch along the Garonne at the edge of Bordeaux's old town near Saint-Pierre. It is a mainstream restaurant listed as gay-friendly, not a gay venue. Reviews are very strong: about 480 Google ratings averaging 4.8. The quays are busy with walkers on summer evenings, and well-rated places in this area fill up, so book ahead for dinner, especially at weekends. Bordeaux's small gay bar scene is a short walk away in the old centre.

Typical atmosphere of an old inn... staff in tune with the place, very kind and practical... very tasty meat and cooked perfectly as requested... the addition of wine cream and notes of blueberries with mushroom flakes... paired wine as recommended, spot on, full-bodied and at the right temperature... with hints of morello cherry

We went to the restaurant on the last day of our trip, and we couldn't regret not going sooner! The staff was so friendly and attentive; they explained the entire menu to us in Spanish and were on top of everything. The food was undoubtedly the best of the whole trip. The meat tasted amazing, and the sauce was incredible. Highly recommended and definitely a must-visit in Bordeaux!

A great place for dinner; the food was plentiful, traditional, and delicious; the service was excellent, as even though we waited a while for our food, they were clearly attentive to our needs (they brought us bread and butter to make the wait more bearable). We were a family of four, and everyone enjoyed what we ordered.

Sometimes it's precisely the unplanned evenings that you later cherish the most. We were simply exploring Bordeaux, somewhere in the vibrant area near the Garonne River. We ended up stopping in front of this small restaurant – and our first thought was: We'll never get a table here. The outside was packed, people were sitting everywhere, eating, talking, and laughing. We went in anyway. And that's exactly where our evening began. We received a warm welcome, and to our surprise, we were told: Yes, there was indeed a table available inside. So we took a seat – right in the middle of this wonderfully relaxed, French atmosphere. There wasn't a traditional menu. Instead, the dishes were handwritten on chalkboards: concise, carefully selected, and entirely in French. We had to do a little translating, but that was part of the charm for us. Nothing felt staged for tourists. It simply felt authentic. To start, we ordered the roasted Camembert with fresh baguette. We were given a friendly warning that the cheese was quite strong – more of a suggestion than a warning, in our opinion. A moment later, it was before us: warm, intense, creamy, and exactly as one would wish for such a French start to a meal. It was accompanied by a bottle of Château du Mont – Graves 2022. A robust red wine that paired wonderfully with it. And then we noticed something that would continue throughout the evening: as soon as the baguette was finished, more was sliced and brought without any fuss. The water carafe was refilled, glasses were topped up – attentive, but never intrusive. We sat there, observing the other tables, families, and friends, watching dishes pass by, and letting ourselves be inspired by what was being ordered around us. And at some point, the evening consisted of only three things: We ate. We drank. We laughed. Then our main courses arrived: two portions of beef stew with Bordelaise sauce, accompanied by a truly generous portion of fries and salad. The Bordelaise, with its red wine reduction, shallots, and mushrooms, was rich and perfectly complemented the meat. And the portions? More than ample. We actually had to give up at some point—no one leaves this restaurant hungry. But we weren't in any hurry anyway. An hour turned into two, and two into almost three. And yet, it felt as if time had simply vanished. To finish, we were offered dessert. We were actually quite full—but leaving Bordeaux without chocolate mousse was out of the question. So we shared one. It arrived surprisingly quickly, was just the right size for two, and was the perfect end to this long evening. Even then, water was refilled as a matter of course. In the end, we paid without any fuss, looked at each other, and realized that what had started as a spontaneous restaurant visit had turned into one of those evenings you travel for. Dessert was offered to us. Good food. Good wine. Warm and attentive service. Generous portions. Fair prices. No artificial staging – just a place where you simply want to stay. We came by chance. We stayed for almost three hours. And we left with one very clear thought: We'll be back. To drink, eat, and laugh. 🇫🇷🍷

We received a royal welcome, were served impeccably, and given a very friendly send-off. Even though we arrived quite hungry around 6:30 pm, we were told that the kitchen didn't open until 7:30 pm. Apparently, this is quite common in Bordeaux, something tourists don't usually know. :) However, we did receive our food at 7:15 pm. The beer and lemonade were cold and delicious, and the food was fantastic. The steak tartare was particularly delicious, as was the shared crema catalana. After paying the bill, we were invited to roll three dice, the total was calculated, and then the shots of liquor were counted out according to the order of the drinks on the counter. The owner was very friendly, and the service was incredibly attentive.
