L'Espiguette is a long, undeveloped sand beach backed by dunes at Le Grau-du-Roi in the Gard, about 40 km east of Montpellier. misterb&b and Queer in the World both list it, with separate naturist and gay areas some way past the family beach near the car parks.
There is little shade and few services once you leave the main entrance, so bring water, food and a parasol. Parking is paid in summer and fills early on hot weekends. The dunes are protected, so keep off them, and remember that naturism is allowed on the beach but sex in public is not.
