Sphere (Women's Association)

Sphere (Ukrainian: Жіноча асоціація «Сфера») is Kharkiv's principal LGBTQ+ and feminist organisation. Founded as an initiative group in 2006 and registered as an NGO in 2008, it was co-founded by activists Anna Sharyhina and Vira Chernyhina. Sphere organises KharkivPride, runs the PrideHub community centre, and provides psychological, legal and community support to LGBTQ+ people and women across the Kharkiv region. Since the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022 the organisation has become a frontline humanitarian actor, delivering financial and psychological aid, evacuating people, supporting displaced LGBTQ+ Ukrainians and fundraising for the defence effort.
