Great place to eat

Fantastic little boutique hotel with a great breakfast. Highly recommend!

We recently stayed at The Fuzzy Duck and unfortunately our experience was quite disappointing. When we arrived in our room, we discovered the toilet seat was broken. When I later tried to put the blind down, the entire mechanism fell off in my hand. When I informed staff about both issues, I was told there was “obviously nothing they could do,” due to the time of night, which I completely appreciated and reassured them I was not expecting them to fix it, but there was no offer of any form of compensation or gesture of goodwill. It felt very dismissive. The front of house manager on the Saturday (a woman with ginger hair) was particularly unwelcoming. She hardly smiled during any interaction and was very sharp in her tone, which made us feel like an inconvenience rather than paying guests. Hospitality is largely about how you make people feel, and sadly we did not feel valued at all. The room itself was very basic. There were no small amenities such as tissues, and the phone in the room was not even plugged in — it appears to be there purely for decoration. I discovered this when I tried to call reception to request a dog bowl. When I went downstairs instead, I was met with “I just explained to you, the reception is not manned,” which felt unnecessarily abrupt. I had understood that reception wasn’t manned overnight, not during the evening. The food was good, but expensive for what it is. There are several pubs nearby where you can get a nicer meal for less, so it didn’t feel like good value. The only real positive of our stay were the young waitresses, who were genuinely lovely, polite and friendly. They were the only members of staff who made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, their efforts were overshadowed by the overall management approach and tone, which left a lasting negative impression. We had actually chosen to stay as we are currently looking at accommodation options for our wedding guests later this year. My partner and I have stayed in many similar establishments and have always had wonderful experiences, which made this stay feel particularly underwhelming. Sadly, based on this visit, we would not feel confident recommending it to our guests. Overall, the stay felt overpriced and poorly handled from a service perspective. With better customer care and attention to basic room maintenance, it could be a much more enjoyable experience.

Booked for Sunday lunch, food was fantastic, service was perfect, this really is a perfect gem tucked away, tastefully modern decor, I highly recommend!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We visited for a lunch time meal with parents, who live nearby, I have to say the food is outstanding and the service exemplary, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for high quality food in a lovely country setting.

We had an excellent meal the pork scratching and apple sauce were delicious. Rooms were comfortable and the help yourself pantry was a really lovely touch! The breakfast was great as were the staff.

I took my parents here for my mothers birthday. We had a surprise birthday free gift on the table which she was chuffed with. The food was delicious, really well above average. I had the duck which was very well cooked. We also had the beef and veggie wellington. Both of which had rave reviews. Every had a different desert and they where all fantastic. The waiter was attentive and friendly. With a main and desert we were full for the rest of the day.

Just a fabulous boutique location and food

Absolutely wonderful experience! The team of staff were superb, attentive and incredibly helpful. We enjoyed a fantastic family celebration here and the hospitality was outstanding. Beautiful food and atmosphere - would definitely recommend!

If I could give more than five stars, I would. This wasn’t just a meal — it was a masterclass in hospitality. The waitress was an absolute gem, anticipating our every need before we even had to ask. Truly the kind of service that makes you feel like the most important table in the room. The manager was constantly present, effortlessly orchestrating the entire experience with care and professionalism, making sure everything ran like clockwork. You could feel the pride and passion behind every detail. The food? Flawless. The service? Impeccable. The atmosphere? Pure perfection. This place doesn’t just serve food — it delivers an experience. Rare, memorable, and utterly outstanding. Do yourself a favour and go. Then go again.

We loved our stay at the Fuzzy Duck! They get all the things right, from basic requirements to the finer details! The fireplace at the bar was our fav. spot! The staff went out of their way to help with a bonfire in the garden! The food is fresh and flavorsome. In love with their bread and black butter.. <3 I highly recommend The Fuzzy Duck for a stay or stop by for their food, for sure..
