Eagle London is the cornerstone of the Vauxhall gay circuit — a leather and fetish bar that opened in 1996 and has remained the reference point for that scene through 30 years of changes in London's nightlife landscape. The venue is a proper leather bar: dress code enforced on many nights (jeans, boots, leather, rubber), a darkroom, multiple bar areas and a large outdoor terrace that becomes London's finest outdoor gay drinking space when the weather cooperates. The Sunday afternoon beer bust — a weekly event that has run for most of Eagle's existence — is a London institution: a relaxed, sociable afternoon and evening that draws the leather/bear/alternative crowd from across the city. Weekend nights host specialist club events; the main floor is the dance floor for larger nights. The Vauxhall location puts it in the cluster of the city's remaining large gay clubs — Fire, the RVT and others are within walking distance. Eagle is not a tourist bar in any sense; it is a working community venue for a specific part of London's LGBTQ+ scene, and visitors who do not identify with leather/fetish culture will feel out of place.
