Hello, We just found the Inn via Goggle and their Website and all promises and pictures sound great for us, so we decided to stay there for two nights, although it seems to be expensive. First of all the restaurant was excellent, but you have to book it separately. The next positive thing was the room. It was nice, modern and comfy. Besides that: - during checkin we just got the key on the desk and a quite short introduction. - the room was not clean. Hair from former guests in shower, garbage under bed and couchtable. - the breakfast mentioned on homepage has been removed just by a short starter. - on checkout day you do not get a „breakfast“ - I heard that for the first time. If you book a room with breakfast (e.g: for three nights you also get three breakfasts. We clarified it during checkin, but nonetheless haven‘t got it on checkout day until we requested it once again. - promised coffee machine was not present. - refrigerator was loud and has not cooled the drinks completely - also all other mentioned stuff (bottle of wine, community room,…) were not available. Besides the mentioned points and the missing promised hospitality we think that the room and the amenities are overpriced. Summary: I do not recommend this accommodation, but the restaurant is definitively a place to visit (and luckily you can do this without staying in the Inn)!

Beautiful spot with great views, lots of local eats near by with the Warf being open in the summer. Rooms so big and bright and the breakfast delivery in the morning is lovely. One of the best showers to!

I have to admit I was skeptical about the Inn. I was sure nothing could be worth the price. But I was so wrong and so pleasantly surprised! Everything about the Inn is top notch. The staff are friendly, the rooms are well appointed and large, the complimentary breakfast delivered to your room is delicious, the bedsheets were so comfortable we checked the brand to see where we could purchase them, and we were even supplied a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival! In addition to the above, the Inn has a 'common room' with a complimentary wet bar where guests can relax outside their rooms. We enjoyed an evening in there, chatting and taking in the atmosphere. It was a major boost for our stay.

The accommodations and the service from the staff were excellent, our winter staycation was 10/10. I highly recommend and we will be back!

The rooms and the location are amazing. You can tell that they really care and are proud of this magical place.

Sunday Brunch at The Inn by Mallard Cottage was special. Very beautiful old world charm and warm rustic ambiance. The service and staff were a comforting as the food. I had the meat and eggs. What a great experience. I will be back.

We spent three weeks traveling through Nfld staying at a variety of places and the Inn will always be memorable in a positive way for us. We were greeted upon arrival and given a tour of the various amenities, then shown to a beautifully spacious bright room. We enjoyed the complimentary wine, spirits and happy hour soup and bread. The scenery, nearby hiking trail, the Quidi Vidi Brewery and the local art co-op certainly added to our vacation. Hopefully we'll have an opportunity to return in the future. Thank you to all the Inn staff for your friendly smiles and hospitality.

We recently spent three nights at the Mallard. The main floor room we had was very spacious with a king bed. The decor was quite unique and stylishly simple but appealing. The fridge containing complimentary pop, water, beer as well as a bottle of wine was a nice treat as was the bags of Cheezies and package of gum. Complimentary spirits, beer and pop also available in the common room. A breakfast (coffee or tea, juice, and slice of loaf) were delivered to our room each morning between 8-8:30 each morning. We would have preferred a coffee maker in our room so we could make it when we wanted it. We would also have preferred breakfast scones or muffins. While the loaf was delicious, we would prefer not to have such for breakfast as it was quite sweet. For those who like to have a television in their room, none are available. This was not a major issue for us. Staff were friendly and helpful, but were not available after 7 pm Thanksgiving Sunday and after 5pm on the Monday. An emergency # was provided. Access to the common room not available after those hours either. While it is great staff get to have those evenings off to be with family, the paying customer does not have access to some of the services normally offered. On a more positive note, a very kind front desk person did make us a carafe of decaf one evening. That was much appreciated. The room was clean except for the area on either side of the bar fridge which had a few dust bunnies gathering. The location of the Mallard near Quidi Vidi Lake, the Plantation, Brewery and Mallard Cottage restaurant is a real asset. It felt like we were in a small, quaint and quiet village. I suspect it is a much busier area during peek tourist season. Overall, the Mallard offers a unique visitor experience in St. Johns well worth the effort.

This place was exceptional! From the moment we walked, Erin at reception greeted us with the warmest welcome and was extremely friendly. The rooms are so spacious and the interior design is fabulous. We were blown away by the complimentary bar in the communal area that offers local spirits and the curated breakfast in the morning. The location is also perfect (across the street from Mallard Cottage - one of the best restaurants in Newfoundland) and also a stones throw away from Quidi Vidi Brewery - a delightful brewery in the "gut" of St. John's. You can sip on local craft beer with endless views of the ocean and mountains. We can't wait to get back!
