A very beautiful park. The landscape was unique and so serene. We spent time just sitting and relaxing. There were a walking their dog. A lady in a chair sitting in the sun napping. Others doing exactly what we were and that was strolling along, sitting a spell, and just relaxing soaking up the beauty
This is a beautiful park on the Halifax River, across the street from the Indian Mound. Trees, picnic benches, landscaped trails and an up-close view of the river. A lovely place for a picnic lunch and a stroll, away from the crowds on the beach. A great place to hang out, read a book, watch the boats go by or just people-watch...Then walk across the street to the Indian Mound in the small grassy park for something completely different.
This park is great for walking or just relaxing. Some benches, some water features.cool to see at least once.
It's really a beautiful park the landscaping is perfect the Walk way are great we just scoll along the river and enjoy the boats go by
This is a small park on the Halifax River, Intracoastal Waterway. It is next to an older home that serves as the office of the city attorney. There are probably less than 10 parking spots...a couple on a pad for handicapped access. There is a gazebo with bench seats. The is a dock extending out in the Halifax, a tidal river...it has a bench seat. There are some pathways that lead out to a promontory by the river. Yes, traffic goes nearby on South Beach St., but it really doesn't intrude that much. It is nicest in Florida winter and spring, but it was very breezy yesterday for an hour of reading. It's a few minutes from the public library...pick up a book and enjoy.
Serene, relaxing, peaceful, quite and perfect for thinking, mediating or praying. Beautiful!!! I like to picnic here.
This small park is a treasure. Sitting directly on the Halifax River it is a bit of a fairy tale land. Shaded in most areas this well manicured park has paths which are adorned with native plants and flowers. A small bridge crisis over a babbling brook and beckons a closer look. My grandson was so intrigued he fell in. The small parking lot has a dock and a cement sea creature. You must read the signs for an explanation. A perfect place to sit and watch the river, the traffic driving over the Granada Bridge, enjoy a picnic or relax and read a book under the gazebo. The library is within walking distance. The north end is bordered by an interesting and unique stone house that is currently occupied by a city department, but signage details its history. An oasis in downtown.
It was here that the last living American Civil War full-rank general, Adelbert Ames, chose to build a home where he died in 1933 at the age of 97. The walrus that Mrs. Ames sculpted still bobs above the river surface on the south side of the wooden dock. Ormond Beach has outdone itself with this park. Right on the Halifax River, there are docks, ponds, fountains, and benches.. All available with picnic areas, restrooms, and ample parking. Beauty, history, wildlife, and serenity are all here. Incredible park and highly recommended! The Ormond Burial Mound is right across the street. Over 125 Timucuan from 800 A.D. are interred in this mound and it's amazing that this historical monument is still here.
A lovely little park for strolling through or just sit quietly and enjoy the day. Right across the street is another historic site in Ormond Beach, the Indian Burial Mound. A great site for watching shore birds, I often take photos here.
We found this quiet little park while looking for the Ormond Burial Mound. It had walking paths, a short pier, lots of concrete sculptures, a visitors shelter containing the history of the park and The Worlds Smallest Amphitheater. There is a small concrete structure at the waters edge that states, "a great place to enjoy the sun" and it actually was ! It is situated to block the prevailing winds and surround you with the morning sun. Sitting there you get a sense of what it must have been like for the family members that built all of the things that were then just part of their garden. By the way, the Ormond Burial Mound is right across the street !
