My stay at Hotel ZaZa was wonderful overall, and I would absolutely stay here again. The hotel is beautifully designed, the beds were incredibly comfortable, the shower pressure was excellent, and every room service meal I ordered was delicious. I'm from Las Vegas, so I appreciate great food, and the room service exceeded my expectations. What impressed me even more was the staff. Every member of the room service team was warm, personable, and professional. On my first night, the person who took my dinner order was genuinely excited to put a creative twist on my meal, and that enthusiasm really stood out. It set the tone for the exceptional service I received throughout the rest of my stay. Unfortunately, my arrival was a different experience. When I made my reservation through the American Express Hotel Collection, I requested early check-in and late check-out in my reservation notes and specifically asked to check in around 1:00 p.m. Because every previous hotel I'd requested early check-in with had been able to accommodate me, I mistakenly assumed my room would likely be ready. When I arrived, it was explained that early check-in is based on availability, and I completely understood. Waiting for my room was never the issue. What was disappointing was my interaction with the employee assisting me, who I believe may have been a front desk manager or supervisor based on his different uniform. Rather than simply explaining the policy, he came across as curt, dismissive, and condescending. At one point, he held up four fingers while explaining there were only four balcony rooms, which felt unnecessarily patronizing. I left the desk feeling unwelcome, not because my room wasn't ready, but because of how I was treated. After waiting by the pool for about two hours, I returned to the front desk around 3:30 p.m. At that point, housekeeping was contacted and immediately confirmed that my room was ready. I don't know what was happening behind the scenes, but it left me wondering whether the room's status had been checked during the time I was waiting. Thankfully, that first interaction did not define my stay. Every employee I encountered afterward completely changed my impression of the hotel. They were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely hospitable, and they delivered the level of service I had hoped for from the beginning. I wanted to share both experiences because I believe the exceptional staff deserve recognition, and I also hope my arrival experience can be used as an opportunity for coaching. I would gladly stay at Hotel ZaZa again.

My husband and I enjoyed most everything about ZAZA except for the lighting in the bathrooms. As a woman, it is impossible to see yourself well enough to apply makeup or do you hair. Even with the provided countertop stand mirror, which was very dim and the magnification side makes you dizzy, impossible to see yourself. I asked other female guests staying in other rooms during our stay and they all mentioned the same thing. Good lighting is very important to women, and the overhead Halogen style spot lights cast harsh shadows on one's face. We had many important events to attend, and we all felt like we looked terrible because we couldn't see ourselves in the mirror. There are no other mirrors in the room except for one next to the door which is also in the dark. Other issues with our room included a constantly dripping shower which made the floor slippery. One of the bathroom ceiling spotlights kept going out but then come back on again minutes later (making it even HARDER to see ourselves in the mirror). The curtain was broken on it's tracks which could not open, making it hard to enjoy the balcony. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was spacious with excellent water pressure. But, because of the lighting issue alone, we won't be staying at Hotel Zaza again, especially with so many other hotel options in the area to choose from with better lighting!

We stayed for the weekend and had a wonderful overall experience at Hotel ZaZa. I especially want to give a special shoutout to Derlyn. From the moment we arrived on her floor, she radiated warmth and kindness, and every interaction with her made us feel genuinely welcomed. Her attentiveness and friendly personality truly elevated our stay. Thank you, Derlyn, for making our weekend even more memorable!

Great stay at hotel zaza. All staff friendly and helpful. Even the gents working the valet were superb and quick to grab your vehicle even when super busy times of the day. Hotel was nicely appointed and comfortable. Comfy bed and quiet room even in downtown Austin. Only negative I could find was the lighting in bathroom was quite dim. Lots of dimmer switches in room to get the lighting right for any occasion, just kinda dim for makeup and shaving. Other than that top notch.

Overhyped hotel.. its beuatiful , unique and nice but nothing really to be hyped about. They have a basic rooftop pool. Charging 65$ for valet, they dont even have their own parking. I feel like this is way too pricey.

Excellent service big room size 👌

I am deeply disappointed by my experience at the spa and pool at Hotel ZaZa Downtown Austin. I purchased a spa day pass, which included access to the pool from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. While my friend was enjoying her massage, I went to the pool to relax, order food and drinks, and enjoy the amenities that were included with my pass. After I arrived, I sat by the pool for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. During that time, several staff members walked past me, looked at me, and continued on without asking if I needed anything. Meanwhile, every other guest who arrived was greeted, offered menus, and provided chair covers for their lounge chairs. I was never offered a menu or a chair cover. A manager eventually approached me and asked if I was a guest at the hotel. I was already wearing the spa wristband that identified me as someone with pool access. I explained that I wasn’t staying at the hotel but that I had purchased a spa day pass. He then asked if I was there with the spa, left for a few minutes, and returned only after what felt like he had gone to verify that I was actually allowed to be there. He then handed me a menu and told me the spa was providing me with a complimentary drink and appetizer. While I appreciated the complimentary items, that did not change how uncomfortable I had already been made to feel. For the remainder of the three hours I stayed at the pool, no one checked on me again, and I was still never given a chair cover, even though I watched every other guest receive one. As the only Brown woman in the pool area that afternoon, I couldn’t help but feel that I was being treated differently. I understand that staff may need to verify access, but the way I was overlooked, questioned, and then largely ignored afterward made me feel singled out and unwelcome. I did not observe other guests being approached in the same way. I cannot say for certain why I was treated differently, but my experience left me feeling discriminated against because of my race. No guest should leave a spa, a place meant for relaxation, feeling uncomfortable or like they don’t belong. I am sharing my experience so that management is aware of how this interaction affected me and so others, especially people of color, can make informed decisions when choosing where to spend their money. I sincerely hope Hotel ZaZa takes this feedback seriously and ensures that every guest is welcomed and treated with the same level of respect, professionalism, and hospitality.

Jaylee is the best! She was so nice and her persona just shows genuinely her passion.. she made our experience here 10/10 while we relaxed at the pool for me and my wife anniversary she was attentive and kind. Thank you Jaylee. Highly recommended. Pool Bar service A1

Jaylee in the pool bar is amazing! Very sweet and informational! Ask for her if you’re in the pool area for food or drinks!
