I had a great stay here. The rooms are lovely, it's walkable to downtown Carmel, and the homemade breakfast is wonderful. The host and staff are very nice.

Amazing stay with very spacious room! Had an unfortunate experience with booking.com so definitely call them directly or book directly through their website!! Our reservation was cancelled without notice but the staff drove out to personally get us a room and honor the original price that we had made the reservation for. Honestly saved our night as most places were closed by this time. Would 120% stay here again because the staff were just that great! 😌

We had a really good stay at Carmel Garden Inn. The rooms were very clean, the location is beautiful, and the fire pit was a great addition. What truly stood out was the host—he is very kind, friendly, and welcoming. Overall, a lovely place and a great experience.

This place was perfect for a couples getaway for a night. Hospitality was great and the breakfast spread in the morning made the trip! Highly recommend checking out in staying for a short duration in Carmel. Staff was wonderful all around.

Staying at Carmel Garden Inn felt like having the key to Granny’s house while she was away visiting friends — a quiet little world that suddenly becomes your own. Every nook and cranny had its charm. The fireplace crackled softly at night, the fresh ocean air drifted in through the windows, and by late morning/noon the space warmed up just right. The cottage space was thoughtfully small — just enough room for what truly matters. No clutter, no noise, just peace. The hot water flowed strong for long, relaxing baths, and the bed was so comfortable it practically pulled you into afternoon naps. Nights were still and silent, like the world paused just to let you rest. Blissful, intimate, and grounding — Carmel Garden Inn is not just a stay, it’s a feeling. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The good: comfortable bed, fireplace in the room, nice and clean, decent breakfast. The not so good: everything was a little worn and rundown. There was a hole in a blanket, the top of the coffeemaker was cracked, lots of worn paint… The place could be amazing with a liiittle more attention to detail, but it was still nice.

Review of Carmel Garden Inn (September 2025 – Fuchsia Mini-Suite) We stayed in the Fuchsia mini-suite, which sounded wonderful on paper: private patio, king bed with “deluxe linens,” wood-burning fireplace, kitchenette, and a “newly remodeled” bathroom. Unfortunately, the reality was very different. The good: • The patio space was nice. • The room itself was large, with a convenient little sitting area in the kitchenette. The bad: • Maintenance is clearly being neglected. It feels like the rooms are just rented out without proper upkeep, yet the rates charged are very high. • The “newly remodeled” bathroom was already showing mold in the shower. The wash basin had been broken and was simply glued back together — unacceptable for a place at this price point. • The so-called “deluxe linens” were shocking — our bed sheets were full of holes. • The bath towels were so old that the stitching along the edges was completely frayed. • The patio looked tired and in need of repairs and fresh paint. Most of the plants on the patio were very sad-looking and clearly in need of care and attention. • The inn invites guests to “join us for a glass of wine and light snack in the lobby between 3–5 pm.” We went at 4:00 pm and found nothing set out. After asking the very helpful young man on duty, he offered us a glass of red and white wine — but explained there was no cheese or salami left, only grapes. This was on a Saturday, when the inn was fully booked. Very strange to extend the invitation but not provide what’s promised. To make it worse, the wine tasted so poor we couldn’t drink it. The bigger issue: On their homepage they highlight all their awards — six-time winners of the “Best Inn/B&B” award from The Carmel Pine Cone most recently in 2024 and recipients of the Traveller’s Choice award,. But honestly, if they want to keep earning awards like these, they really need to do something about the state of the property. Right now, it simply doesn’t live up to the reputation they’re advertising. Bottom line: This place could be charming, but the lack of care, upkeep, and attention to detail makes it feel run-down and overpriced. At these rates, guests should expect far better than moldy bathrooms, hole-ridden sheets, worn-out towels, tired-looking patios, and undrinkable wine.

My wife and I celebrated our 31st anniversary in Carmel, staying in Carmel Garden Inn added a precious memory for us, the place is very cozy and beautiful and the host was extremely kind , attentive and made us feel at home. Any time we get back to Carmel we will always go back to this wonderful Inn. I highly recommed it

This Inn is a disaster, cracked window, bathroom falling apart and ants in the kitchen , in serious need of upgrades, I will be reporting this to the Carmel visitor center. Don’t waste your money.

We loved our stay here! The beds were comfortable. We had our own little patio area. I liked having a small kitchenette area with a little refrigerator and microwave. We absolutely loved our delicious fritatas for breakfast. We were within walking distance to shop and restaurants.

Really cute place, nice breakfast, pretty convenient with a lot of restaurants around.

absolutely delightful. humble, tasteful furnishings. spacious bungalow / cottages with private patios. had a tastefully lit sitting room / kitchenette. our room was cozy on arrival and had a fireplace with wood ready-to-go. it felt luxurious in a simple, low-key way.
