My husband and I have stayed at the Hotel more than a dozen times since the remodel. It is a beautiful hotel. It speaks Old Hollywood Glam! Ironically we recently learned about the speakeasy.. it is absolutly evrything you could imagine! Drinks - the vanilla old fashioned was delicious and the Service was 5 stars. Michelle and Cullen have a great team!!

This is a beautiful, modern hotel with some steampunk vibes. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms had great water pressure and warm water, and there are bars/cafes on site. The only issue I experienced was difficulty with parking -- you MUST valet your car (there's no hotel lot) or street/garage park (paid). The prices are reasonable for street parking but you have to keep updating the app until 9 pm, when the parking becomes free. The city also takes parking enforcement seriously, as we were issued a parking citation WHILE STANDING AT THE PAY BOX to pay for parking. That's irrelevant to the hotel but is worth noting for visitors using a car during their stay.

Amazing stay at Hotel Fort Des Moines, Curio Collection by Hilton! The hotel was beautiful and the service was excellent. Dakota was especially wonderful — friendly, helpful, and made our experience even better. Highly recommend! Additional shoutout to Allison at the Valet Stand. The Staff here is exceptional!

Giving this hotel a 1 star due to the poor customer service experienced. Recently visited and booked two rooms under a room block. Stay was just fine, but once we got home we received the invoice to show 1 room was under the room block and the other room was not. After calling the hotel, they explained because I’m a Hilton Honors member, the second room could not be under the room block. They also stated that there was a cut off of March 26th for the deadline to book and we showed that we booked the room on March 6th. Really poor management and customer experience and will make sure that I will do anything in my power to stay away from staying at this hotel in the future because of this. The room was not worth the price.

I recently stayed at Hotel Fort Des Moines and had a great overall experience. The building itself has a lot of historic charm, but it’s been beautifully updated with modern touches that make the stay feel comfortable and upscale. The rooms were clean, well-designed, and surprisingly spacious. The bed was very comfortable, and I appreciated the attention to detail—from the lighting to the quality of the linens. The bathroom was also spotless and felt high-end. The staff was friendly and welcoming from check-in to check-out. They were quick to answer questions and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. The location is another big plus—right in the heart of downtown. If I had to mention a downside, it would be that parking can be a bit inconvenient or pricey depending on your preference, but that’s fairly typical for a downtown hotel. Overall, I’d definitely recommend Hotel Fort Des Moines for anyone looking for a mix of history, comfort, and a great location.
