Damien Center

Anna Edwards has been one of the most compassionate healthcare providers I have ever had at Damien Center. I am homeless and have AuDHD, and my medications are often lost or stolen, which makes it extremely difficult to stay on them consistently. There are times when I struggle to prioritize my own health, but Anna does. She never gives up on me and consistently reminds me that my health matters, even when I have difficulty believing that myself. Her persistence has made a meaningful difference in my life. I have also experienced trauma that no one should have to endure, including multiple physical assaults and sexual assault. For a long time, I carried a great deal of shame and embarrassment about discussing those experiences. Anna has created a space where I no longer feel afraid or ashamed to be honest. I know she will listen without judgment, believe me, and treat me with kindness and respect. I also want to recognize her assistants and the office staff, who are all exceptional. Howard, in particular, is someone I see when I check out, and he consistently goes above and beyond to make sure I feel cared for. The lab technicians are also wonderful and always treat me with kindness and professionalism. Everyone there helps create an environment that feels supportive and welcoming. The pharmacy staff also deserve recognition. They are personable, kind, and always make me feel welcome. They know who I am, treat me with respect, and have consistently gone out of their way to help me. Their compassion means more than they probably realize. I have had several recent interactions with a newer staff member that felt much less welcoming, and I hope, with time, she embraces the same warmth and patient-centered approach that the rest of the pharmacy team consistently demonstrates. I also recently started using the Healow app to communicate with the office. I sent my very first message through the app and received a response in about 10 minutes. They had me scheduled to be seen the very next day. That level of responsiveness made me feel heard and cared for, especially during a time when I really needed help. Finding a provider you can trust is incredibly rare. Anna has earned that trust. She sees me as a whole person, not just a patient. She has helped restore a sense of dignity and safety that trauma had taken from me, and that is a gift I can never fully repay. I am deeply grateful for the care I receive at Damien Center. Anna and the entire team have made a profound difference in my life. If you're looking for a provider who truly listens, cares, and will stand by you through life's hardest moments, I cannot recommend Anna Edwards and the Damien Center team highly enough.

I went in for a rapid HIV test and had a great experience! very friendly staff at the front desk, and my specialist Austin Valdovinos, who administered the test, was extremely kind and provided me with great information and resources. Can't beat the Damian Center for STI care and prevention!!

The best care in the city 💙

Im sure they do great work but I came in seeking PEP due to an exposure and the lack of urgency was concerning. This is very time sensitive and they did not have openings same day. If you are a center that specializes in this type of work there should always be openings for these situations. Luckily I have financial resources that allowed me to obtain the medication on my own, but people with less means would have been in trouble. Do better.

It is a great great organization of people with Hiv. The people are struggling. It’s a great organization in great people. I love what they do.

This Damien center is very resourceful it's a one stop shop for all your needs. I received a free manicure and my nails was popping perfessionally done also they serve lunch warm hot meal with dessert and a lunch bag as well Thank you Damien Center

Had a medical appt to establish care and get a couple things looked at. Was a little worried after seeing the reviews, but I had no issues. Called them to get the address (forgot to write it down earlier), and they answered very quickly. Kindly and efficiently delivered the information. Everything and everyone felt very kind and efficient. I got blood work done and was offered a pap smear slot, although I didn't have the capacity to do that today. I saw Dr. Edwards, and NP (I believe) Ramirez.

I didn’t know that they have a Dental Clinic, Pharmacy, Primary Care, Mental Health, Substance Use Management. I was tested by BREEZIE and she did an amazing job. She made me feel safe and comfortable, I learned a lot of great information. I highly recommend this place for free and confident testing and if you are looking for other services.

The doctor I spoke to was weird and made me feel uncomfortable, she abroublty asked if I was making faces at her as soon as she walked in the door, like talk about paranoia. They sat at an uncomfortable distance from me,rubbing their foot against mine and then proceeded to make nasty faces after asking me if I was sexually active. I honestly dont care enough to say anything but that really disturbed me and as a pateint I do not feel safe with my care provider acting like theyre on drugs or completely out of their mind.

Might thinking about stop going there cause this my 2nd attempt got an expired milk. Are they trying to kill us!? Called and told nothing we can do. Just contact to your case manager. Hung up. Really?? They bought those food from KROGER. MY MOM Work at Kroger. Told me they never will sell expired foods to anyone. Which I must assume that this dept hold in the shelf till they are one day before expiration and give to us. Wasted of tax payers! But making us sick! Going back? Please please pay attention to DATES!!! I’ll never get a milk from there!!!
