The Sandpiper Lounge is a small, long-running dive bar on South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach. It is a mainstream bar with a mixed crowd, gay-friendly rather than gay. Despite older listings, it is not a gay bar. Live bands and DJs play most nights, and it gets crowded and loud late.
Laguna once had a well-known gay strip on this stretch of the highway, but most of those bars have closed, so places like this now pick up some of the LGBTQ+ crowd. It rates 4.4 from about 400 reviews. Expect cheap drinks, a tight dance floor and cash-friendly service. Check the website for who is playing.
