I recently stayed at the Hotel while I was in Pittsburgh for a Conference. I was there for a week. The Hotel is very clean and designed very well. The location is convient and close to most areas. The Front Desk Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Very kind and courteous. Always very helpful. The Hotel has a Shuttle Service and all the Drivers are very knowledgeable of the city. Great Gentlemen. Very fun to talk to. Were always willing to take me where I needed to go to. My room was always cleaned properly every day and the Cleaning Staff were very nice and helpful throughout the Hotel. A very spacious room, and a really comfortable bed. The Hotel has a Restaurant and Bar. The Staff at the Eliza Hot Metal Bistro were excellent and courteous. Very fun to be around and made my dining experiences very enjoyable everyday. Excellent food and prices very reasonable. My overall stay and experience at the Hotel Indigo was incredible. Thank you to the entire Staff at the Hotel for your hospitality. I would give the Hotel a Five Star Rating. And I will definitely stay there again and recommend others to stay there as well. Thank you, Richard

My wife and I travel a lot, and this place is our favourite. Everything about it is excellent! The location is perfect to go the South Side (you can literally walk over the bridge), or to go Downtown. The amenities are all really good, and they have two great patios (one as part of the restaurant, the other on the rooftop). They also have a shuttle that you have access to within a 3 mile radius. We often come down from Canada to go to concerts in Pittsburgh, and nothing beats going to the PPG Arena with door-to-door service (special shout out to Marvin - the Driver)! The staff are all super-friendly and very accomodating. If you need anything, they will do their utmost to make you happy. The area is quiet, safe and relaxing. I can't think of one negative about this hotel or it's location. I don't think anyone will be disappointed staying here, and I highly recommend it - especially if it's your first time in Pittsburgh.

I was up all night from the road noise, as this hotel is right next to the highway. You know it's bad when the hotel provides ear plugs on the end tables.

Hostile Staff, Lying about Availability, and Threats of Police Intervention I had a traumatizing experience at Hotel Indigo Pittsburgh University-Oakland on the night of April 30th. I strongly advise travelers, especially IHG members, to think twice before staying here. 1. Hostile Service & Safety Threats: After checking in, I found the room unbearably noisy due to the constant roar of traffic from I-376 (located just 400m away). When I requested a room change, the two front desk associates were extremely hostile. Instead of helping, they lied, stating the hotel was fully booked. When I asked for the manager’s contact info to discuss the matter, they threatened to call the police on me. As a guest seeking a reasonable solution, being threatened with law enforcement is a severe breach of safety and hospitality. 2. Dishonesty (Lying about Availability): While the staff insisted there were no rooms, I have screenshots from the official IHG booking channel showing multiple rooms were available for that exact night. This is a blatant lie and a violation of guest trust. 3. Poor Room Quality & Admitted Noise Issues: The room was a disaster for sleep. The pillows were lumpy and offered zero support (see photo). Most tellingly, the hotel provides multiple sets of earplugs on the nightstand (see photos). This is a clear admission that the noise level from the highway is a known, structural defect they cannot fix. Providing earplugs is not a substitute for professional service or a quiet room. 4. Lack of Management Accountability: I have filed a formal complaint with IHG Corporate. Despite my emails to the Front Office Manager and the general hotel email, I have received zero response. Their silence speaks volumes about their lack of concern for guest safety and satisfaction. Bottom line: If you value your sleep and don't want to be threatened by staff for making a simple request, stay elsewhere. There are many better options in Pittsburgh.

Absolutely recommend this Hotel! It’s clean and the Jackie and staff are exceptional! We had rm 211 and were very pleased with the accommodations. The Bistro by the lobby has good food and Tamaria our waitress was great friendly staff. The Hotel also provides free shuttle.. Chris was our shuttle driver and pleasant to ride with . He got my to my VA appointment and picked my wife and me back up and brought us back to motel.

The location is excellent—close to the colleges and just a short drive to most places in Pittsburgh. However, the room we were assigned was extremely noisy, especially in the morning due to highway traffic, as the hotel is located right next to it. When we checked in at night, we noticed earplugs in the room (similar to those given on airplanes). It seemed unusual at first, but by morning, we understood why. The noise from passing trucks was loud enough to wake us up early. While the service was great, I would not recommend staying here unless you can secure a room facing the river rather than the highway.

I loved the rooms and it was easy to access. You need to check in before you try to park. I love the sound of the city but if you don't this may not be the place for you.
