The Sentinel is a luxury hotel in a restored 1909 building on SW 11th Avenue in Downtown Portland. It ran for years as the Governor Hotel. It's a gay-friendly mainstream hotel, not a gay hotel. The main draw for queer travellers is location: the small cluster of gay bars around SW Stark Street, Scandals among them, is a few blocks away.
It sits at the top of the local price range and has a 4.5 Google rating from over 1,100 reviews. Rooms come in the historic wing and a newer wing, so check which one you're booking. The West End restaurants and Powell's Books are both within walking distance.

Overall the place is nice but could use some maintenance. Rooms are little musty smelling and have natural gas issues on the 6th floor.
