About this place The Sentinel Hotel

The Sentinel Hotel occupies a landmark 1909 building on SW 11th Avenue in Downtown Portland, one block from the SW Stark Street gay corridor and within easy walking distance of Scandals and the cluster of LGBTQ+ venues that make up Portland's downtown gay scene. The hotel has been operating as a luxury property for over a century under various names and represents the best of Portland's historic Downtown accommodation stock: high ceilings, period architecture, and a sensibility that combines genuine luxury with the Pacific Northwest's characteristic informality. The Sentinel is explicitly LGBTQ+-welcoming — a property where gay couples travelling together can expect a warm and uncomplicated reception. The Loop restaurant and bar on the ground floor is one of Downtown Portland's better hotel dining options. The rooftop terrace provides views across the city. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Portland, the SW 11th Avenue location is effectively perfect: the MAX Red and Blue Lines stop at Pioneer Courthouse Square two blocks away, Old Town/Chinatown is a 15-minute walk north, and the Pearl District with Powell's Books is a 10-minute walk northeast.

There’s mandatory amenity fee charged per person per day but there’s not much amenity. Thats the only downside.

Overall the place is nice but could use some maintenance. Rooms are little musty smelling and have natural gas issues on the 6th floor.
