Charged an extra $400 in mystery fees after reserving and another $100 on checkout

First off, let me say that the water pressure was fantastic. Also Aaron was a gem. Beyond that, nothing was what you'd expect from a four star hotel or even a cheap chain hotel for that matter, this is not a "boutique". The area being rough would be an understatement, homeless will harass you if you are anywhere outside of a 20 foot area around the front door. NOT a safe place for female travelers unless escorted. Before leaving for dinner we asked about parking, we were told they recommend using the $60-70 valet service the hotel offers, otherwise some guests use the unaffiliated pay lot the next block over. We planned to opt for the valet as it is a secure ramp, however we were NOT told the ramp closes at 11pm so we returned at 11:20 none the wiser. We were advised to remove anything we care about from the vehicle, hotel staff stored it in their back room. I empathize with a long standing business being affected by the decline of its neighborhood, and it's not the hoxtons fault people are abusing substances and wandering the neighborhood. That said, the room had a mattress that may as well have just been a box spring. The lights next to the bed did not work, and even the floor lamp switch was broken, so it had to be unplugged to turn it off. The bathroom had virtually zero counter space, even the towel hooks are poorly placed and few in number. I would think for the price charged compared to other options that it would at least include a single overnight valet (charge extra for come and go service), especially considering the fact hotel staff have to warn guests about the likelihood of a car break in if parked ground level. Got catfished, would not stay here again.

I originally picked this hotel because the pictures and website made it seem homey and eclectic. The website bosted about an onsite restaurant, bar, and coffee shop. However, every time we went to use one of the amenities it was either closed or someone wasn't around to man the position. Checkin was also a strange experience. We showed up at 10 PM and the person behind the counter couldn't answer any questions, didn't have access to anything, and couldn't offer any help except to say "sorry about that". The room was ok, but small. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. Also, this seems more of a hotel to stay at if you don't have to be anywhere before 10 Am. Breakfast isn't untill 9 am-11 am , but the coffee shop that opened at 7 am didn't have anything available to eat except cookies. When we tried to go to the rooftop bar for lunch, we discovered it didn't open until 4 PM. So from 11 am-4PM there are no options and it was much the same in the surrounding areas of the hotel. Now, they did give us a food and drink voucher to make up for the inconvenience, which was appreciated. But the overall experience was the deciding factor to not stay at the hotel again.

In the heart of heritage Portland, this is a unique hotel with a great vibe and on point aesthetic. the rooftop restaurant is delicious with great views. Deadstock coffee is spot on. The Photo Booth in the lobby is intermittent but when it’s on, it’s incredible and very authentic. Staff are super friendly. Scott and the host that checked us in were so thoughtful and kind and helped us celebrate a very special personal milestone. This is a very beautiful casual place to celebrate or just hang.

Everything was great. Be aware, rhe cozy rooms are quite small. That's as advertised, so I have no issue. I mighy just choose a larger option next time.

We just left a day early, due to how much we disliked this hotel. I am sure it's fine for hipsters under 30 but I am a grown up and plan to sleep in my hotel room. Unfortunately the drag racing in the middle of the night on Saturday and the house party on the 9th floor on Sunday night combined with the terrible mattress made sleep impossible. Internet was SO slow we couldn't watch Netflix, and when I called the front desk to get batteries for the TV remote it took 3 tries before I had to give up and call room service to get someone to answer the phone. When I finally got someone on the phone Saturday evening she sounded so perturbed I apologized for bothering her! We were not told the restaurant would be closed for a private party on Sunday. I was however offered a complimentary white claw at check in. In hindsight, that told me everything I needed to know. If a free can of White Claw isn't the coolest thing you can imagine, stay someplace else.

Went to Portland for a girls trip and we stayed at the Hoxton. We had a great stay, the view from the room was beautiful and all was very comfortable. We tried out the caffe in the lobby and the Pamana restaurant for breakfast. Both were great experiences.

Y’all! Don’t second guess your decision to stay here. I’ve stayed at so many downtown hotels in Portland and this is my absolute favorite. I will specifically stay here in the future. The quality of furnishings, interior design, real art, in the rooms and around the hotel were a 10/10! There was even a live plant in the room and luxurious drapery. I really enjoyed the toiletries (Blank brand)- so much that I complimented it upon checkout and was told I could buy some to take home (I did). The staff was nothing short of incredible! The Filipino/American restaurant downstairs was top notch… great service and the food was very memorable. The rooftop bar was vibey as heck - including the people! A great hotel has to have a great bar and this one killed it with a rare Portland rooftop! I didn’t have a single negative experience and felt a genuine connection with everyone (including the staff) I came across. Also - having a great coffee shop in the lobby was a huge plus. I honestly wish there were more Hoxton’s around the US bc if this experience is the typical for this boutique chain, I only wanna stay Hoxton. I am excited to try other locations now and will prioritize amongst my choices when traveling. There was nothing corporate or disconnected about this place. I truly felt welcomed and appreciated in a way I’ve never had from any hotel experience. Whoever does the hiring here has a great pulse on what the brand is trying to deliver. The neighborhood was clean, friendly, walkable, and close to so many great places. Thanks to Mak, Emily, and Sam for going above and beyond. There was an amazing door person who I discussed corn dogs with who I can’t recall their name but they were so darn sweet. Thanks Hoxton-Portland for a memorable stay and keep it up!

Service is great, rooms are VERY small. My room had a very small window that looked at a wall.

Hoxton brand, this is a major disappointment! I’ve never experienced such poor hotel Wi-Fi in my life. I came here for a business meeting, and there was absolutely no internet connection. What a shame! Do not stay here!

May 7th was my birthday, and I decided to spend the day in the best of spirits—and honestly, it was the best decision I could have made. I stayed in Room 304, a room I absolutely loved. Everything was so clean, organized, and harmonious that it gave me an immense sense of peace. Thank you, Issa, for cleaning my room; thank you for making it possible for me to rest in such an impeccable space on my birthday. Thank you so much for the note; I would undoubtedly return and choose The Hoxton again.
