Castro Station

I have always like the Castro MUNI Metro station. I ride the various trains inbound toward downtowb every morning & the employees here know me so well that they open the gate without even looking at my pass most of the time. They know I always pay my fare. On two separate occasions where I somehow ended up without my proper fare the people at the booth were very understanding & gave me courtesy tickets.

The entrance is not here, but on the west side of the road.

Some construction is going on, but it will be amazing when done.

Coming from a traveler's perspective, I'm sure most of the MUNI stations are super busy on weekdays, but when we were here during Thanksgiving weekend, they were not. And it seemed like the Castro Street Station was the least crowded of them all. After experiencing the beautiful stations of Washington D.C., these can't compare in terms of cleanliness and architectural design, but, they get the job done. On a positive note, the stations are more easily accessible because they're not as deep underground. This station puts you in the heart of the Castro at Castro & Market streets. A huge rainbow flag flies proudly above. Nearby sights include the Castro Theater, shops, bars, and restaurants. MUNI pricing was cheap. Inside, the trains were in good shape, pretty clean, with loud and clear announcements.
