I've been here before and never had any issues until today. My mom and I came in just to have a drink. The bartender with glasses and dark hair immediately asked for our IDs without even saying "hello," "hi," or "welcome." It came across as rude and left a bad impression on both of us. I completely understand that identification needs to be checked, but the way it was asked came across as rude and disrespectful, especially with a smirk on her face. A simple greeting and a polite request for our IDs would have made the difference. I've had this bartender before, and she was fine. I've even seen her outside of work where she is friendly. It was surprising to experience a different personality. The way she interacts with customers while working comes across as rude and it's honestly confusing considering how different she is outside of bartending. I noticed a previous Yelp review describing a similar experience with the same bartender, so it doesn't seem like this was an isolated incident. Unfortunately, because of this experience, we won't be coming back. Please keep in mind l've been to many bars throughout the city, both new and old-school. I was born and raised here and not once has a bartender been rude about asking to see our IDs. It's never been the fact that we were asked for identification, it was the way we were treated. I'm not writing this review because I'm "sensitive" or because I have an issue with being asked for identification. I am sharing my experience because customer service matters. After reading other reviews, it's clear that I am not the only customer who has had concerns about this bartender's demeanor.

Oldest lesbian bar in the city with old school duve bar vibes! Great backyard on a beautiful day! Totally recommend if you are in Bernal Heights.

This place Absolutely Sucks. Don't waste your time going here unless you want to be disappointed. Beautiful backyard garden but unfortunately the staff is extremely rude and can't even make a margarita correctly.

Given how few queer/lesbian spaces there are left in the city, I was excited to spend some time here over Pride weekend. Unfortunately had the most bummer experience - I came in with my wife and a couple of friends, the bar was not very busy around 8 PM. I ordered a martini for my wife, and the bartender loudly scoffed and rolled their eyes and asked if I was serious, then proceeded to make three martinis and had me pay for them all. I was so confused by the experience that I just paid and went straight to the backyard instead of arguing it because it felt like intentional hazing instead of a misunderstanding. Truly don’t understand the point of treating polite, visibly queer people with such contempt in a queer space, especially when the drink order is simple and the bar is slow. I’d think it was a one-off but a regular in the backyard told me that’s typical behavior from that bartender.

My friend and I wanted to play pool and grab a couple of drinks but instead we were met with hostility immediately. A staff member asked us how we got in there and where we came from. We were asked “So you think you can just walk in here?” The door was wide open and there was no bouncer. We were followed out and harassed up until the door being shut behind us as we left. For some additional context, it was 11:40pm and we did not know they closed at 12am, we assumed it was 2am like most bars and the door was wide open. We are both visibly lesbians and were excited to be in a lesbian bar but will not be coming back. I hate to make a bad review as a lesbian about a lesbian bar but I did not feel welcome at all. It seems like the staff like their regulars and no one else.

Excellent space, exceptional staff. We visited from Fort Worth and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Cheryl was so sweet! Great company, great atmosphere.
