The LaLiT New Delhi is the most politically significant hotel in India's LGBTQ+ landscape. Executive director Keshav Suri is a named petitioner in the Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India case ? the Supreme Court petition that led to the striking down of Section 377 in 2018 ? and the LaLiT group's commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion is institutional rather than performative. The hotel's Kitty Su nightclub is Delhi's premier LGBTQ+ venue; the property's staff are trained in genuine inclusion; and staying here as an LGBTQ+ traveler is an act of conscious alignment with an institution that took real risks for the community. The hotel itself is a full-service five-star property in the heart of Connaught Place ? Delhi's commercial and geographic center ? occupying a significant heritage building that was originally the Intercontinental Delhi. The rooms cover a range from standard superior through suites, well-maintained and professionally managed. The location on Barakhamba Avenue gives excellent access to Connaught Place's restaurants and retail, the metro connections that reach the rest of the city, and India Gate a short drive south. The dining options at The LaLiT include multiple restaurants and bars, with the Baluchi restaurant ? North Indian fine dining ? a particular highlight. The hotel's rooftop options are worth exploring. The business facilities and meeting rooms make it a viable option for work trips as well as leisure. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Delhi, the practical and symbolic case for The LaLiT is strong. It is the hotel where the staff will never make you feel like an aberration, where the management has the receipts to prove its commitment, and where you are a ten-second elevator ride from Kitty Su on the nights that matter. In a city where finding that kind of certainty takes more research than it should, that clarity has real value.
