📸 Suggest PhotosCantaloupe is one of the most established bars on Rainbow Street ? the pedestrianised street on Jabal Amman that represents the most socially liberal neighbourhood in the Jordanian capital. The rooftop bar draws a mixed crowd of young Ammanis, expats, NGO workers and international visitors: the demographic that tends to be most tolerant of social difference in Jordan's context. It is not a gay bar and has no LGBTQ+ identification of any kind; LGBTQ+ visitors who come here do so as part of a general crowd and exercise appropriate discretion. The value of Cantaloupe for LGBTQ+ visitors is its specific context: on Rainbow Street, with a liberal clientele, it is among the most naturally comfortable social environments available in Amman. Do not treat it as a safe space for visible same-sex affection ? it is not. Use it as a comfortable, relatively tolerant place to spend an evening in a city with very limited LGBTQ+-friendly options.
