About this place Boat Bar

Boat Bar is a stalwart of Phuket's gay nightlife scene, having served the community for nearly two decades. Located in the heart of Tambon Patong, it's a popular gathering spot for both visitors and local guys looking for an evening out. The venue features a modern, well-equipped interior with quality light and sound systems, a DJ booth, and an outdoor terrace where you can catch some air or take in the surroundings. The bar opens at 9pm, with the atmosphere gradually building as the night progresses—expect a quieter vibe early on, with more energy and crowds moving indoors around 11:30pm. Nightly cabaret and drag performances are a highlight, adding to the entertainment throughout the evening. Whether you're interested in catching a show, dancing, or simply enjoying drinks with friends in a welcoming space, this is a solid option for gay nightlife in Phuket. As a well-established venue in one of Thailand's most popular beach destinations, Boat Bar has developed a reputation as a reliable and inclusive spot. The mix of tourists and locals creates a friendly, social atmosphere. It's worth checking opening times and show schedules in advance if you're planning a special night out.

Sad to say that the whole Paradise precinct has had its day. It now feels like a storage area for the hotel, crumbling concrete, peeling paint and drabness dominates the day and even the lights of the night can't hide the neglect of the area. Once a favourite place to dance and see shows the boat bar has moved across the street but struggle desperately as the crowds are focussed on the Zag bar. The scene in Phuket appears to be lost. Sad.

This is a good place to go. Honest people, nice service, not pushy as some other bars in the street. The owner Khun Deng is a fantastic guy, the staff is, friendly, professional and the show is between good and extremely good. Some acts could be put on international stages... Always a pleasure to visit. Come for happy hour (before 11pm) for a cheap drink, and the bar is yours, come around midnight and the place is packed. And the prices are still reasonable then.
