Tonight, I visited "Yoshoku Izumi" in Oebashi, a restaurant I was invited to as an elegant Western-style restaurant. It's located on a quiet street about a 6-minute walk north from Osaka City Hall, across the Tosabori River. After wandering around a bit and getting slightly lost, I finally found the door to the restaurant, which had a remarkably understated facade. From the outside, I couldn't see inside, but beyond the door, although not particularly spacious, the simple, uncluttered interior created a calm, urban atmosphere typical of Nishitenma. I sat at a table bathed in soft light filtering through the facets (glass cross-sections) of a table chandelier, near a clean, L-shaped counter. The appetizer consisted of smoked firefly squid and mushrooms on a baguette, and tuna tartare. The lace paper on which the appetizer was served provided a beautiful border, adding a retro, luxurious touch that excited me. Taking a bite of the overflowing tuna tartare on the crispy baguette and pairing it with wine, the classic flavors immediately whetted my appetite. The steaming new onion potage was thick and sweet, and the crab claw croquette was a delicate dish. How beautiful it was… I picked up the claw and gently brought it to my mouth, and a rich, creamy filling appeared from within. As I savored the sweetness and richness of the first bite, my excitement grew, and my anticipation for the main course became so high that I ordered a bottle of wine. The long-awaited main course. The firm hamburger steak, about the size of a child's fist, was cut open with chopsticks, and the hidden interior revealed through the steam engaged all my senses in a delightful experience. The pure hamburger steak, stripped of all unnecessary elements, is the true essence of Izumi Western Cuisine, without any pretense. And for the finale, you can choose between omurice or beef cutlet sandwich. I remembered hearing that their beef cutlet sandwich was exceptional, so while torn between omurice and the beef cutlet sandwich, I decided on the one that so many people had posted about. Four slices for two people. Even though our stomachs were already full, looking at these precious four slices made us forget all about our fullness. The meaty cross-section, oozing with pink juices, the aroma of the crispy, thinly sliced ​​toast—this ratio was truly golden. From the first bite, we savored the tenderness of the fillet, savoring the lingering flavors. Before I knew it, I noticed an intense gaze. My friend was laughing at my dreamy, relaxed expression, and I snapped back to reality. "You look too happy!" "It was really delicious. Thank you for bringing me here." The pleasure is straight forward here: good old menu including omurice, beef sando, ebi fry, napolitan etc., masterfully prepared and delivered to you straight over the counter. This restaurant is where people of all ages can enjoy. For quite some time I have been missing this simple joy.

This is a Japanese-style restaurant. Among restaurants serving similar dishes, the taste is the best. The batter on the tempura is thin, and the omurice has a soft texture. The mushrooms are also very delicious. You absolutely must make a reservation, as there are only a few seats available.

June 2026 - My first visit in 7 years! The menu has changed quite a bit. It's refined, but that's not all. My current impression is: "Western food beyond Western food." It's not for people who want something junk-food-like in their Western food. ---------------------------------- In the past, it was difficult to get a reservation, but now that you can check the reservation status on their website, it's much easier to plan. The courses are very satisfying. You'll fill up even on the cheaper option. If you taste it as Western food, it's very delicious. If you taste it as French cuisine, it feels a bit bland. This is a place to enjoy as a lively Western restaurant.

My wife and I were looking for Omurice for the first time and we found this place close to our hotel. All I can say is WOW. Everything from the ambiance,the service and thefood was 5 stars across the board. If you are in Osaka this is a must try.

Everything I ate was delicious! I was undecided, but I chose the set course, which allowed me to try a variety of dishes, so it was a great choice.

The food was truly impressive, and the chef and staff were incredibly friendly—they even chatted with me about J-pop. It made my Friday night a wonderful experience. BTW, thank you for the small gift, and Vaundy’s live was absolutely perfect.

Three months later and I'm still thinking about that dinner. The restaurant makes you feel special. The service was very professional and friendly. The food was high quality, absolutely delicious. It was a shame to discover it on our last night in Japan and not be able to go back, but what a great way to end our trip!
