Über dieses Event
Das Melbourne Queer Film Festival (MQFF) ist Australiens am längsten bestehendes queeres Filmfestival, jeden März im ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) am Federation Square und an weiteren Melbourner Spielstätten. 1991 gegründet, präsentiert MQFF ein kuratiertes Programm australischen und internationalen LGBTQ+-Kinos: Spielfilme, Kurzfilme, Dokumentationen und Sonderveranstaltungen. Die Positionierung am ACMI — Melbournes zentraler Institution für Bewegtbildkultur mitten im CBD — spiegelt den Respekt wider, den das Festival sowohl in der LGBTQ+-Community als auch im breiteren Kultursektor genießt. MQFF zieht rund 15.000–20.000 Besucher übers Programm und ist seit über drei Jahrzehnten eine Plattform für LGBTQ+-Filmemacher aus Australien und international.
