Melbourne Queer Film Festival

Das MQFF begann im Februar 1991 als Teil von Midsumma, wurde 1992 zu einem eigenständigen Festival und zog in den März um, läuft aber mittlerweile im November. Es hat seinen Sitz im Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda.
Alle Vorstellungen sind kostenpflichtig. Im Jahr 2025 war der Hauptveranstaltungsort das Cinema Nova in Carlton, mit großen Veranstaltungen im Collins Place, Melbourne Town Hall und im Capitol. Kurzfilm-Pakete und einige Spielfilme wurden auch eine Woche länger national auf MQFF+ gestreamt. Das vollständige Programm erscheint etwa einen Monat im Voraus.
Die 35. Ausgabe fand vom 13. bis 23. November 2025 statt und wurde mit der queeren Zombie-Komödie "Queens of the Dead" eröffnet. Pose-Star Dominique Jackson erhielt den ersten Tribute Award des Festivals. Das MQFF hat die 36. Ausgabe offiziell für den 13. November (Eröffnungsabend) bis zum 22. November 2026 angekündigt. Wir konnten keine veröffentlichten Besucherzahlen finden.
