Visitors frequently praise the friendly and attentive staff, with many feeling welcomed and well-cared for, and appreciate the convenient location close to the beach and nightlife. However, a recurring complaint is that the facilities, particularly the sauna and jacuzzi, are outdated, not well-maintained, and can be dirty.

Hello, this is my fifth stay at the Aquarius Hotel in Patong Beach. This gay hotel is the only one to have survived the challenges of our modern economy. Bravo! Run by a couple and a team dedicated to meeting all your needs, your stay will be intimate and safe in the heart of Patong. You'll have access to a free sauna (depending on your chosen package), which will allow you to mingle with locals. For room selection, I recommend choosing the suites, especially for longer stays. Finally, if you enjoy drinks and snacks, there's a bar where you can chat with the managers and your friends about your day, your activities, and more. In short, the Aquarius Hotel offers a glimpse into local life, safety, and the intimate side of Thailand. And in conclusion, a huge thank you to the two managers, Paul and Tchart, and their entire team for making my stay so incredibly enjoyable. Thierry Capel from France. May-June 2026.

I was pleasantly surprised. I arrived at the hotel late, and the owner personally welcomed me—he was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel has a great location, just a few minutes from the beach. All the staff were attentive, the breakfast was excellent, and the room cleaning was outstanding. I honestly don’t understand the other reviews—either they didn’t actually stay here, or they must be exaggerating. I highly recommend this hotel.

Wet areas smelled like if they hadn't been cleaned in years. 5 clients at peak hour. Service was ok.

Is a good place to stay at a good price in the middle of gaydom. Sincerely, do expect noise because of all the bars ezt, but thats easy to avoid by wearing sleeping headphones. Plus, the place is close to really good food and the beach. It was also an advantage to be next to the paradise hotel, because thats a perfect pick up spot for all the day tours.

Not recommended. There were less than 10 customers, and the facilities were all outdated. There was a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, darkroom, and gym, but none of them were satisfactory. Sorry for the honest review.

Fantastic guesthouse, wonderful staff. You arrive as a stranger and leave as a friend. Special requests, like the lobster dinner, are handled with great care. Thanks to the whole team!

A great guesthouse with super friendly and attentive staff. For breakfast, we had a delicious fried chicken and vegetable sandwich with a fried egg on top – thank you to the chef for his professionalism!

This Gay Guesthouse in the centre of Patong is great. The only negative is that it doesn't have a swimming pool. On days when you don't feel like doing much touristy stuff it would be nice to lounge by a pool. Saying that, there is a roof top jacuzzi available to guests if you pay for the use of the sauna next-door that is associated with Aquarius. Rooms are a good size with aircon and i was never kept awake by the markets or clubs close by. I was in room 307 which I would really recommend. Yes rooms could always be better but we only paid $100 as night t through Agoda. I think my room was a smoking room, but it did not have any smells at all so perhaps it's not. They are available so check when booking. Staff are great. The markets are literally right at the entrance as well as the main Gay massage street is the next street in one direction. I may or may not have used their services on several occasions 😜 . The next street in the other direction has the Gay clubs. The beach is about a 10 minute walk from Aquarius and there are so many great places to eat close by.

It wasn't a great experience, but it wasn't bad either; that's all I'll say. I can't comment on the rooms because I only went to the sauna. Considering it's in a very busy place, ideal for making a profit, the facilities are adequate in terms of infrastructure, in the broadest sense of the word. The smell is unpleasant in the steam sauna, but I think I went on a day when the system was broken. The dry sauna is for a maximum of three people. The floor of the steam sauna is uneven but not dangerous. The private rooms need updating, but they do the job. The sauna is very small overall. There's no free access to drinking water, unlike in most saunas in Thailand. But if you're looking for fun, you'll find it. I don't mean to be disparaging, but the sauna could be significantly improved with investment. Considering its location and the abundance of customers on this beach. The price is very affordable.

Aquarius Guesthouse is a fantastic place to stay in Patong. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful A big shout out to Paul and Chart who were always around to assist with questions and provided great local insights and the inside scoop on what to do and what to avoid. Initially, I was concerned by all the negative reviews, however on staying I can say the rooms were exactly as pictured on the website and the location is excellent. It's close to everything Patong has to offer while still feeling relaxed and easygoing. The atmosphere is laid back and casual, making it a great choice if you’re looking for a friendly place to stay where you'll be sure to make lots of new mates. As an added bonus was the no pressure guidance and ability to book day trips directly through reception. So long as you have realistic expectations of the property, its a great place to stay and I'll definitely be back.

We had a reservation and checked in Christmas Day and after seeing our room, which was nothing like the pictures on the web site, we then toured the facilities and found the entire place to be quite sleazy. The hot tub on the roof was filthy as were the lounge chairs and the sauna room was dark, dirty and seedy. It was far worse than a sleezy bath house—nothing like the photos depicted. We decided to leave immediately and booked new accommodations. I asked for a refund due to unrealistic depiction but got no response. If you like the area there is a nice hotel right across from them. I would not stay there under any circumstance.

Not what I expected from looking at the reviews and pictures. Very much a “pick up” place. Jacuzzi was cold and very cloudy water. Sauna was dark and quite “murky” - was anticipating a warmer, cozier place. Not my cup of tea, but maybe for others.

I was a bit worried because of the reviews, but I stayed here for four nights and had a great time. Paul and the staff were very kind and welcoming. Don’t expect a brand-new 5-star hotel like some people who posted reviews and you will have a great time. The sauna was great to unwind after a day at the beach and the gym had everything I needed. Breakfast was solid too. Overall a great first stay at my first gay hotel.

Stayed for 4 nights. We had concerns after reading some reviews. If your after 5 star resort this is not for you. If your after friendly service this is the place. Positives. Location, breakfast, staff, other guest Negatives. Not many pool would have been nice but not far from the beach. We pre-booked another hotel (5 star) before the trip just in case. Wish we had not now as we could have stayed put and saved a lot of money. Next time in Phuket we will be staying at Aquarius again.

I have been staying at Aquarius Gay Guesthouse for the last 15 years And have just returned home again after yet another stay in this Gay men only Guesthouse in the heart of Patong, The guest house is a three story Building consisting of comfortable rooms ,A sauna ,Breakfast area,Rooftop deck ,Open air spa and an Evening bar to relax after some fun in the Sauna or a few hours enjoying the deck area and spa. The guest house has had a lot of the staff for many years including Audi who looks after the font desk and always welcomes guests with a friendly Thai smile he is available most days to book tours and look after guests needs ,The rooms are spacious and house cleaning does an amazing job every day to make sure your stay is a pleasant one ,Fresh bottles of drinking water are also placed in each room every morning as the Tap water is a definite no to drink in Thailand . The owner Paul is very gracious and available every evening at the bar to welcome guests and have a chat ,Another person I have to mention is Chat who cooks an amazing breakfast for each guest every morning ,Eggs as you like them ,French orange juice ,toast and jam and delicious coffee,Chat also speaks great English and is always happy to assist The beach is only about a 10 walk away ,Beach towels at reception . I highly recommend Aquarius for your stay in Patong

Horrible place and experience! Stay away! WiFi is unreliable. Water pressure is bipolar. I was originally in room 307 and early evening I heard a loud sound come from the air conditioner then the smell of burning, it then stopped working, went down to front desk and they moved me to room 207 which was smaller, had sewage smell coming from the bathroom and bed was hard as a rock but I dealt with it. Came back from a night out and the air conditioner wasn’t blowing cold air and it was 80 some degrees and of course they don’t have anyone at the front desk at night time and with no number posted on who to call or contact so I was stuck sweating and not being able to sleep from the heat and had to wait until 8am when someone was finally downstairs. After I told him he didn’t even bother to come upstairs or even make it a priority, half an hour later I went back downstairs and asked to checkout early from my reservation and he was like you can checkout but we won’t give you a refund. Even after the experience I had been having, they were forcing me to lose my money I paid for the remainder of my reservation or once again move rooms. Guy obviously didn’t want to lose the money as they were only 50% at capacity during busy season. He even made it sound suspicious about my rooms saying they never had problems before, which by the condition this hotel is in I doubt it, it is completely rundown. I moved to 308 next which smelled like dust and wet cement. Also be aware that your reservation doesn’t include use of the gym or sauna unless you specifically look for that option when booking, had I known I wouldn’t have booked here. Cheaper and nicer hotels in the area than the price this place charges that doesn’t include anything! It is old and not maintained. Bar downstairs gets a tiny crowd (1-3 people) of just people of a late mature age, only young person is the bartender. Never had a drink there as it did not appeal to me nor did I want to give this place a single dollar more of my money which is also why I didn’t visit the sauna, but a friend told me he went during peak hours and it had like 6 people inside. It’s also hard to find as it’s down the alley of a plaza. Save yourselves the headache and book elsewhere.

Modest, unpretentious hotel. Difficult to find, poorly marked. Minimalist and old-fashioned room. Minimum cleaning done daily. They deserve a good renovation as well as the entire establishment. Relatively clean sheets. Repetitive breakfast and little choice. Friendly welcome by the staff, however the boss is not very welcoming. Please note, it is impossible to pay with my credit card or even my friend's via their terminal, my establishment considers payment too risky. A real hassle to pay the bill…) I recommend going through a booking platform and not directly.) We go back more and we cut it short by changing hotels after 3 days.

Aquarius is a cozy and nice hotel, the staff is good and helpful, a small downside is breakfast, which is ok but monotonous, the rooms are nice and tidy, cleaned daily, the roof terrace above is good for nude sunbathing, and a nice jacuzzi. Thanks to all,

It's been a couple of months since I was there (sep 6-9). I have to admit I was hesitant to book here, but now am glad I did. Yes this place isn't a 5 star luxury resort, but I I definitely will be back. It's clean and comfortable, I don't know about anyone else but when I travel I don't live in my room. I only really had dealings with two of the staff who were amazing and very helpful. I'm terrible with remembering names so if I get them wrong please forgive me, big shout out to Chart and Pig. I did utilize the spa on one afternoon, not many others there but that was fine, I got to enjoy the hot tub, and wet sauna to relax. This was my first trip to Thailand so I just did a few days in different cities to see as much as I could. When I go back, which I hope will be soon, I will definitely be staying here again.

The place is falling apart badly maintained expensive. And very few people still going there. Visited the place over the years and every time it worse than the previous time. Now the bar is not even open downstairs swimming pool closed up. Guy at reception not welcoming at all. Not worth going there time Patong get another sauna. If the sauna is so disgusting and dirty I can only imagine how bad is the guest house. The open street bar section is open but not busy or friendly either. Walked past there many times and saw no people there. It is just not worth spending your time and money there.

You will always find reviews where people rate a hotel badly as it didn’t meet their expectations, this hotel is moderately priced and had a variety to suit all budgets - so if you want basic get a basic room, if you want lavish - get a suite! I stayed here for nearly 2 weeks in 2 different types of rooms. One was basic room only big superior - which for sleeping in and having the occasional bed day is great. Water pressure and bed were comfortable. AC worked good and it was clean. 2 water bottles daily. You could hear the music from Zag at 10.30pm each night which didn’t bother me at all- it simply reminded me that I had to go have a beer :-) The next room I stayed in was the Michelangelo suite- which was a step up - more spacious and some more updated decorations. I couldn’t hear the music as much in this room. It is also included in sauna, breakfast for this one. Rooms were as advertised and I was satisfied with what I paid for what I received - altogether rooms were clean and worth what I paid. Now onto the bar downstairs - great place to meet people as I’m not a sauna person - I had many great evenings of conversation with people from all over the place - prices reasonable - Mai works hard behind this bar and is always smiling- please tip them! Chart and Paul work hard to being all of these services together and it’s great to see that after covid they have been able to keep the dream alive and hold onto a venue that provides good quality where you see many places closed shop for good. The staff are very good with recommending things too so I leveraged off their advice. Massage across from the main entry is great too and a hairdresser across from blue dolphin massage is great too! Breakfast was awesome! As I was having dental soft food was a must and the team were very accommodating. Location is the best of this place - Otop is about 15 minutes walk and that’s strolling, Bangla is 5 minutes, beach is 10 but 5 if you go down beside the Tiger restaurant shortcut. I have to recommend this place as a place I will stay at again if I come back to Thailand/Phuket. Yes the indoor pool is closed, but in a city where the beach is a stroll away and outside- I would say it was not the best part of this hotel. The rooftop spa is a good quick spot to get wet if you need it anyway. Thanks to the Aquarius team for my stay I had a wonderful time at Aquarius - if you are looking to book this hotel and see a negative review - it would be because they were being unreasonable as there is always 2 sides to every story. This was mine - I will leave it there - book it - you will enjoy yourself - whether you want a chilled break or a busy one - this place offers all of it. Thanks again team !
