Radisson Blu Hotel

I had an unpleasant check-in experience at this hotel. I travel a lot and have stayed in many different hotels. For example, as a Hyatt globalist, I have stayed more than 80 nights already at Hyatt this year. Even outside Hyatt, I have enough hotel experience to know what is generally considered standard hospitality. I booked this hotel through a 3rd-party website. I arrived about one hour early, and I do appreciate that they allowed me to check in. However, the check-in experience itself was uncomfortable. About two weeks ago, I sent an email regarding my request, but never received any response. During check-in, I showed the front desk staff member the email and asked if the email address was correct. He confirmed it was correct, but that was all. No explanation, no apology, nothing. I felt ignored. What was more surprising was the lack of communication overall. He did not even confirm basic reservation details such as my length of stay. Usually staff would ask something simple like, “One night?” or “Two nights, correct?” After check-in, he mentioned that breakfast was included. Naturally, I expected some basic information such as breakfast hours and location, but nothing was explained. He simply gave me one key card and that was it. In most hotels, staff usually provide at least minimal information about Wi-Fi, gym, pool, bar, or other hotel facilities. Here, there was absolutely no explanation. I am not sure if this is just the service style in Germany, or specific to this Radisson chain, or simply this particular staff member. I also cannot help but wonder whether I was treated differently because I am Asian. I sincerely hope that was not the case, but I left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, mine was not a good one. I will most likely stay with a different hotel chain on my next visit to Leipzig. Other travelers should also be aware that the service experience here may be disappointing.
Good hotel in a central location.
Great hotel with friendly staff, and we even got an upgrade to a junior suite... we'd definitely stay there again.
Great, good parking facilities, central location, attentive reception, very good breakfast.
They make a real effort here to accommodate dietary restrictions. There's a wonderful view of Augustusplatz from the front.
