IREOS is Florence's self-managed queer community centre, founded in 1997 and based in the Oltrarno on Via de' Serragli. Run by volunteers, it is the hub of organised LGBTQ+ life in the city: it operates a free, anonymous health and HIV-testing service ("Consultorio della salute"), hosts self-help and support groups, runs school and cultural programmes, and organises the annual Florence Queer Festival. For visitors it is the best single point of contact for information, community events and support in Florence.
