Ristoro Antico ist ein Bar-Buffet in der alten Triestiner Tradition – eine Kombination aus Stehweinbar und Mittagsbuffet, die das österreichisch-ungarische Erbe der Stadt widerspiegelt, mehr als jeder italienische Präzedenzfall. Die Bar ist seit vielen Jahren durchgehend LGBTQ+-freundlich und wird von der schwulen Gemeinde Triests als der angenehmste gemischte Treffpunkt im Stadtzentrum genannt. Die Klientel ist charakteristisch Triestiner: Intellektuelle, Beamte, pensionierte Berufstätige und eine Abordnung der jüngeren Kunstszene, die sich in diesem Teil der Stadt tummelt. Der Wein ist exzellent und lokal (Carso DOC, Friuli Isonzo). Das Mittagsbuffet ist eines der preiswertesten Essenserlebnisse der Stadt. Geöffnet von morgens bis abends.

I went for tea around lunchtime. I sat down at an empty table, and a staff member came to take my order. For cakes, you go to the display case to look and order. I took a picture of the cake to show them because I was afraid I'd forget the name. It was a rich chocolate cake, typical of Europe, but it wasn't too sweet and was delicious.
