San Blas Bay

San Blas Bay is a small, steep red-sand cove on Gozo's northern coast, below the village of Nadur and just east of the better-known Ramla Bay. Reaching it means a stiff walk down (and back up) a rough track, which keeps the crowds away and has long made it the most relaxed and gay-friendly of Gozo's beaches. The seclusion means discreet nude and clothing-optional sunbathing is quietly tolerated at the fringes, though nudity is not formally legal in Malta and there is no official gay section — so read the setting and be considerate of the families who also use the cove. There are no real facilities beyond a seasonal kiosk, so bring water and shade. Malta is one of Europe's safest countries for LGBTQ+ visitors, but as with any isolated spot, basic discretion and awareness are sensible.
