Disappointing Stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, there were issues that significantly impacted our experience. The elevator from the street level to the lobby/check-in area and guest rooms was out of service for our entire stay (Day 1 through Day 3). This was extremely inconvenient, especially when traveling with multiple pieces of luggage. Guests were expected to navigate around the issue, but escalators are not a practical option when carrying heavy bags. A major accessibility concern like this should have been addressed immediately or, at the very least, communicated in advance. Prior to arrival, I called the hotel and was told I could check in early. However, when I arrived at 3:30 PM, I was informed that check-in was not until 4:00 PM and that the hotel's computer systems were down. There was a line of approximately 15 families waiting in the lobby. The systems eventually began "kind of" working, and I was finally able to check in at 4:20 PM. As a Hilton Honors member, I asked about the complimentary bottled water typically offered to guests. I was told that only Gold and Diamond members receive complimentary water. When I requested to speak with a manager regarding this and other concerns, I was informed that the manager was not available. The hotel itself is in need of some TLC. The towels in our room were noticeably yellowed and appeared worn. When I asked housekeeping for replacement towels, I was told there was a towel shortage. I found that completely unacceptable for a Hilton-branded property. The one bright spot was the staff. Everyone I interacted with was polite, friendly, and did their best to help despite the challenges they were facing. Unfortunately, between the broken elevator, delayed check-in, lack of management availability, towel shortage, and overall maintenance issues, this stay did not meet my expectations. I hope management addresses these concerns, as the location near Newark Penn Station is very convenient and the staff deserve better support.

Nice hotel. Physically connected to Newark Penn Station during business hours via walkway. After hours, it's just a short walk an across the street. Check in easy. "TT" and the front desk staff is wonderful. Rooms clean, and spacious for being so close to NYC.

The person claiming to be the hotel manager—named Sebastian—simply cancelled my breakfast vouchers. Even though I showed him that my reservation was for two adults. The incident began when I asked for the vouchers for the second day of our stay; he claimed I wasn't entitled to them and went to the restaurant to cancel them—even though my wife was already eating. I ended up paying over $57 for a terrible breakfast with no variety; the breakfasts at Penn Station, right across from the hotel, are better and cheaper. It was an embarrassing situation in front of my family, friends and other guests in the restaurant. He was rude and lacked any customer service skills, barking orders at the waiters and threatening them—saying things like "Do what I tell you"—while the other staff members looked visibly uncomfortable. I tried speaking with other people at the hotel and the front desk, but I believe that when the "manager," Sebastian, accessed my reservation, he left a note; everyone told me that only he could resolve the issue—all with apologetic looks—as he is the one in charge here.

Jim and TeeTee were so helpful and made our stay really comfortable. They showed us that the ceremony was within walking distance and safe. Thank you.

Hilton hotel went from 5 star hotel to a 3 stars and I'm being generous! Don't book it. And, I'm a 'Hilton honors' member, go figure!

Hotel is fine and serves its needs . As of two weeks ago they don’t validate parking anymore. Parking is now $70 . Wish they would warn you before booking
