Boom at Admiral’s Inn & Gunpowder Suites was, without question, the highlight of my week in Antigua — I ended up going five times, which probably tells you everything you need to know. The infinity pool alone is worth it — overlooking the water, perfectly calm, and never felt overcrowded. It’s the kind of place where you actually relax, not just say you did. I also had one of the best spa treatments I’ve had in a long time — a 90-minute deep tissue massage that was exactly what I needed. They offer a day pass for $115 USD, and it’s an incredible value. It includes a reserved lounger with an umbrella, full access to the pool, a three-course lunch, and two cocktails. The food and drinks exceeded expectations — I kept going back to the Gunpowder Margarita, which was easily my favorite. What really made the experience, though, was the service. Shareen (apologies if I’m misspelling) and her team were warm, attentive, and genuinely made the experience feel special every time I visited. I was in Antigua while my partner was training for the RORC 600 Caribbean race, and Boom became my go-to spot to unwind. It turned what could have been a long week on my own into something I’ll actually remember as one of my favorite trips.

Highly Disappointing Stay: Poor Value, Zero Service, and Serious Cleanliness Issues We recently completed a three-day stay at Admirals in Maine, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing, especially given the high cost. The primary issue was the complete lack of value for the price. The accommodation was very expensive, yet we received no housekeeping service or basic cleaning during our entire three-day stay. Most concerning was the cleanliness and attention to detail. Upon checking out and clearing our belongings, we found a medication bottle underneath the bed. The discovery of forgotten personal items from a previous guest under the furniture indicates a severe failure in deep cleaning and hygiene protocols. This is unacceptable and raises serious questions about the overall sanitation standards of the establishment. To make matters worse, when we brought these critical issues to the attention of the manager on duty upon checking out, we were met with a rude and dismissive attitude. There was absolutely no apology or effort made to resolve the multiple failures in service and cleanliness. This lack of professional customer service only compounded our frustration. Based on the poor service, the inflated cost, the disturbing lack of proper cleaning, and the rude management response, we cannot recommend staying at this location.

Good 3 star hotel. Breakfast was alright - we got coffee, bagel with cream cheese, boiled eggs and granola with yoghurt so all good. Beds were great, shower powerful, aircon powerful, rooms clean. Only Room didnt feel safe, the sash windows would not lock and the net screen on one of the windows had come off the frame — easy entry to the room. Slept thru the night but pls fix those windows, it’s not nice when guests feel unsafe.

It’s not a three-star hotel—more like 1.5 stars but they charge you for three. Room amenities are terrible. Coffee maker doesn’t work, no phone in the room, towels are scratchy, pillows are lumpy, shower felt like being hit by needles of water, bed is hard and springy. The room also smelled badly and the air-conditioner is located right below the curtains, so it’s hard to run it with the curtains closed. You’re paying for the location. Staff is extremely rude and surly. This place could care less about you enjoying your stay—they just want to make as much money as possible while putting in as little effort as possible. The guests are treated like products in an assembly line.

Great place to stay, clean and perfect location. I would have given 5 stars, but I was woken up on this Sunday morning around 730am to leaf blowers running on full blast! Why schedule this so early on a Sunday morning??? The kicker is when I was eating breakfast and watched one of the guys blowing leaves all over my car! Maybe ask me to move it?? Nope. Went to the front desk and the woman practicality shrugged me off saying "they didn't start that early". Yes, in fact, they did! With the large amounts of leaves, you never know what is mixed in (twigs, rocks) hitting a vehicle. Luckily, there's no damage to my vehicle. No notice what so ever. How inconsiderate to the guest. Do better!
