The honest summary: Brisbane's legal cruising is indoors, and there isn't much of it. The Den Men's Club in Fortitude Valley and Wet Spa & Sauna in Bowen Hills are what's left since Bodyline closed in January 2018 and Club 29 in July 2022.
Legal in one line: sex-on-premises venues are for adults on private premises; an indecent act in a public place is a crime under section 227 of the Queensland Criminal Code, with a maximum of two years' imprisonment.
The Den
The Den Men's Club is on two floors above an adult shop at 187 Brunswick St. Travel Gay lists private cabins, a dark room, glory holes, slings and a maze. Hours are listed differently across sites, from 9am or 10am to midnight or 1am. There's no website, and a February 2025 visitor reported about A$20 entry. Google rates the shop and club together at 2.8, with complaints about staff and cleanliness, and recent visitors describe it as quiet. Wet Spa & Sauna
Wet Spa & Sauna, 22 Jeays St, Bowen Hills, has a maze, private rooms, a pool and steam. Entry is A$30, and it's open daily from 11am, until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. The saunas guide has the detail.
Other adult venues
Everything Adult is listed by Travel Gay as a shop, cinema and cruise area, but sources give three different addresses and we found no reviews newer than 2019, so we don't list it. Kinkii Klosett on Brunswick St is a mixed adult store. Hellfire Club runs monthly fetish nights at the Sportsman's downstairs bar; it's a mixed-crowd fetish party, not a gay men's cruise night.
Outdoor beats
In Australia a beat is a public place where men meet for sex. We don't list any or give directions to them. We couldn't find a current, reliable source for any named Brisbane beat, and the park names repeated online trace back to spam pages or old unattributed text. An older version of this page named a park; we took it out because we couldn't verify the claim.
Beyond section 227, wilful exposure is an offence under section 9 of the Summary Offences Act 2005 and public nuisance under section 6. Isolated places after dark also leave you open to robbery or assault. If you're in trouble, call 000. Apps such as Grindr are widely used in Brisbane; meet somewhere public first.
Beaches
Brisbane has no gay beach, and Queensland has no legal clothing-optional beach. Police fined and charged people at Alexandria Bay, Noosa, in April 2023.
Testing
RAPID offers free HIV and STI testing at Wet on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2pm to 7pm, no appointment needed. Queensland Council for LGBTI Health (QC) and Stonewall Medical Centre also offer sexual health services.
